hana-murakamiâ:
Hana had gotten her Nyquil courtesy of the help of a few kind strangers and had been bunking down with Jinx for a few days, but she had always had trouble sitting still. It didnât take long before she was out wandering and even less for her to end up at a bar â The Last Drop. Cute, kitschy. It would work. She didnât really have any plans for the evening, just nursing a gin and tonic at the bar for a moment as she tried to wash the remnants of fake cherry taste out of her mouth.
Hearing someone speak, she turned her head and let out a small, âHm?â as her brain processed the words, still a tiny bit off even as her fever waned. Smiling back at the stranger, she gestured towards the stage, âOh that? Thatâs a train wreck, honestly, but thatâs the appeal. You just canât look away, right?â
Taking another sip of her drink, she gave the glass a swirl to see how much was left and tucked her hand under her chin smirking, âYeah, sure. If youâre buying, how can I say no?â
_
âMhm. Dunno if Iâd call it the appeal, certainly nothing appealing about that voice,â Rory smiled once again, the expression solely genuine this time. âBut, yeah, itâs definitely hard to look away from. I promise theyâre not normally quite this bad.â
âSure, Iâm buying. As long as you donât bleed me dry with the order.â It was meant as a joke, mostly, but they knew what out of towners were like at this point; the last person that theyâd spoken to at the bar had tried to order a bottle of champagne, something that didnât fly with Roryâs bank balance or the Last Dropâs menu, for that matter. âWhatâs your poison?â
