“Goodbye, Caroline.”

Was it really a goodbye from Klaus or was it absolutely different concept of a goodbye? While scrolling through my dash or twitter TL, i have seen a few people saying that by saying goodbye, Klaus finally gave up on Caroline and said goodbye for good. IMO, there were three main things that made it pretty clear that he hasn’t said it to her in a way that he is giving up on her and she will never ever hear from him again.

First.

The way he says it, has absolutely astouneded me in every way possible. You can see in his eyes, that deep inside he wants to cry, because he doesn’t want to say it to her. He hates the fact that he has to let her go every time because he only needs to be sure that she is happy and she is safe. Even though we know him as the most selfish person ever(IMO) he has never been selfish with Caroline. He always gave her a choice and he always let her go, if that’s what she wanted. His goodbye is absolutely heartmelting and touching, they way he puts his soul into it, had me crying. Not to mention his dedication to change his voice to a melodic one, because here he is, pronouncing her name like a poem again. Moreover, his goodbye was brought up because baby finally had fallen asleep, and he didn’t want them to wake up the little one.

Second.

She didn’t say it back. Back then when 5x11 was out, it was her who asked him to say goodbye to her and never come back, with that, he would get her confession about him, and he would leave for good. But as for me, when he hung up the phone, all I could see was how she didn’t want him to do it. Not only she was eager to speak him a little bit more than they had, but I also caught her wishing that she could confess other things too, tell him about the things that had happened to her in those years when he was gone and instead,she didn’t even get time to realize that it was so soon that they should end the talk. I could only see how heartbroken she was that he said goodbye to her, because LBR, he ruffled her feathers, again and left her there,breathless.
