After discovering no way out of the mines, Emily ends up encountering the Stranger who reveals himself as not the threat she assumed and despite her protests, she is given a bag of flares and falls deeper into the mines. Emily tries to find another way out but is quickly attacked by what is revealed later on as The Wendigo, a threat unknown until she comes face to face with it and has to fight to survive against its vicious attack against her.
