thinking about will byers joining the college radio because he grew up talking about music and recommending songs back and forth with his big brother and he's craving that same kind of community away from home. and he meets some pretentious assholes and some very cool kind authentic people and even other queer people and he gets to talk about music and art and boys freely and go out on the weekends and smoke weed and swap song recommendations and hang out in the station on the worn-down couches and contribute to the drawings and posters on the walls and sift through the vinyl collection. anyways he gets 30 minutes of airtime each week his freshman year and he uses the few songs he gets to tell a story about his relationship with someone over time and the love and the pain and the hurt and the change. and mike tunes in every week and he doesn't know why will plays what he plays but he suspects. and one day he'll know
