willa grant takes a leap and applies to universities in america to pave her own path away from the fame of her family in canada. enrolls in briar university alongside summer hamilton, who is escaping her own battles from home. her dad kindly pays for her schooling and that's it, everything else she has to obtain herself so gets a job working at malone's as soon as she's old enough to. she's the same age as hannah, allie and the guys. knows hannah from both majoring in music.

very similar to willa's main off campus verse ... moves from canada to america to attend university. majors in music, and works at malone's. strikes up a friendship with john logan on shift one night, a friendship that toes the line of platonic and romantic on the daily. eventually coming to terms with the fact that they do in fact have feelings for each other that are romantic, and no doubt everyone around them celebrate that they finally recognise it. she often brings him to her parents ranch in rose hill, giving him the cowboy experience. soon enough they get married, where willa teaches music to children both in her home and out of it and logan follows his hockey dreams.
