Pop Quiz

penny was known for biting far more than she could chew. an overachiever since childhood, there wasn’t a club she hadn’t joined or a class she wasn’t determined to ace. and now, in her senior year of college she still hadn’t necessarily learned how to take it easy. the final games of the football and soccer season coming up and finals right around the corner left penny’s schedule stacked. the added stress of all her work with the label, and well, penny’s mind was hardly on the science textbook in front of her. laying on her bed, penny stares down at the words eyes and brain failing to grasp anything that she needs to be. “fuck science.” groaning loudly, penny closes the book and rolls over on her side so she can look at wilbur. “can we play mario kart instead? rex isn’t home so he won’t mind if we use his switch.” the request comes out as more of a whine than anything, and she bats her lashes at him hoping being cute can help her get her way. @wilburobinson

“first of all, what did you just say to me?” wilbur gasps, looking up at her wide eyed. the absolute audacity of his own girlfriend insulting the very purpose for his existence. “science has nothing but nice things to say about you, you know.” he argues, pointing an accusatory finger her way. “ya know, i would usually say yes, but if you can’t even get through science homework, how are you supposed to even be a challenge to me in mario kart?” this was meant to be motivation, but he realized once the teasing words left his lips that it could come off as him calling penny dumb. he hoped there was enough sarcasm in his tone to save him.

eric had been so focused on trying to find a loophole in the spell that turned naveen into a frog that he hadn’t thought to look at it from any other angle. once he spots wilbur walking by him it clicks. “bro, science!” eric snaps, eyes lighting up as he takes naveen off his shoulder and cradles him in his hands. it’s a struggle to squeeze through the crowd without bumping into anyone, but he’s determined to get to wilbur before he loses him. “wilbur, wilbur!” eric calls, stopping abruptly when he finally reaches him. “hey man,” eric takes in his costume and looks at him mildly confused for a moment “you’re a rat.” he announces, as if wilbur didn’t know that. but then he shakes his head. “not important. you’re a scientist right? you ever turn an animal into a person?” he asks, holding open his once closed hands to present wilbur with his best friend. @naveenmaldonia @wilburobinson

Being a frog was starting to get old. Even though he was starting to get used to it by now — something he never would have believed possible when he was cursed — he was ready to be human again. Being carried around be Eric as he fed him little pieces of funnel cake wasn’t exactly the way he planned to spend the fall festival. They were supposed to have good costumes, not walking around as a frog and a lilypad because Naveen literally couldn’t do anything else. “Huh?” Naveen questions as Eric seems to get an idea, watching him curiously as they weave through the crowd. When they finally settle in front of some guy dresses as a rat, Naveen can’t help by frown. “This is your science genius?” he scoffs, peeking out from between Eric’s hands, in no position to judge but doing it anyway. Eric seems convinced, though, and anyone in Eric’s good books is good with him. “You’ve gotta help us, bro, I’m sick of being a frog.” @wilburobinson··

“and you’re a lilypad.” wilbur probably should’ve been more surprised by the talking frog in eric’s hands, but really the only surprise is that it was actual eric’s best friend. “huh.” is the only thing he can manage to come up with in response, at least right away. “how’d your friend turn into a frog exactly?” he asked eric, considering he didn’t really know naveen, but he continued to look over the frog. “i’ve never turned an animal into a human, no. but i’ve also never known an animal that used to be a human, so you know.” he shrugged. “i’d need to do some tests, but i don’t see why i couldn’t figure it out.” @ohcapitans·

baymax had gotten seperated from his friends a while ago. he knows they’re out in the crowd, familiar faces lost in a sea of uncreognizable people. even beyond that, he knows where they are, vaguely. his previous scan of the area had helped him place where exactly they were, and if he really wanted to he could just slowly make the journey to them. but right now, he’s too busy trying to make sense of the person covered in blood. “there are visible signs of injury,” he blinks, head tilted to the side as his little robot brain struggles to make sense of fake blood. “but there is no wound.” there’s a pause as he blinks again, letting the silence hang around them as his programming fails to resolve this issue. “i can not compute.”

wilbur checked the surrounding area for a sign of hiro or any of his other friends hanging around. when he saw none he sighed. how do you lose a whole ass robot? he wandered, sidling up to baymax’s side. “that’s because they’re in a costume. the blood is fake. there is no wound.” he informed the big mechanical marshmallow. “where’s hiro, b-man?”

penny hated closing the arcade more than anything. it’s a lot harder to avoid doing all the things she didn’t want to do when there wasn’t anyone else for her to boss around. but, as much as she hates having to clean up the arcade at night, working the night shifts has its merits. because there’s no one else here ralph lets her have complete control of the sound system, and she always capitalizes on the opportunity to blast her favorite songs or anything she’s currently working on. it’s how she finds herself here, dancing around the arcade with a broom in hand as she blasts her favorite rihanna songs. she’s so wrapped up in singing love on the brain at the top of her lungs that she doesn’t even really notice when the arcade door opens and someone comes in. penny spins around, using the broom more as a dancer partner than the cleaning apparatus it should be used for, and it’s only then that she notices the other person in the room. letting out a shrill scream, she jumps back only to realize it’s not an axe murderer or something. it’s just wilbur. “God, fuck you,” she whines, heat rising to her cheeks as embarassment settles in. “what are you doing here?” @wilburobinson

“oh yeah?” wilbur asks, unable to keep himself from laughing lightly at her scared reaction. it hadn’t been his intention, but he when he arrived at the arcade and say her dancing, he felt rude interrupting her mid-vibe. “i actually heard there was a performance here tonight? some penny proud? i don’t know i hear she’s pretty good and i wanted to check it out for myself.” a dopey grin spreak across his features as he leaned against the wall just in front of her, and pushing his bottom lip out in a brief pout. he could never be too careful when it came to penny.

“alright! i warned you!” they shout, turning away and leaving the aisle filled with baseball equipment. jogging two rows down to pick up the item they needed, riley returned, brandishing a thick hockey stick. this probably wasn’t the most professional behavior to have during the middle of a shift, but riley didn’t care. when your sworn enemy came through the doors and start waving around a baseball bat, professionalism no longer mattered a damn. without any further warning, riley swung the stick right at wilbur’s legs.  @wilburobinson·

“hey!” wilbur shouted, jumping in the air as if he were competing in a double dutch tournament to avoid losing his legs to the rabid blonde attacking him in a sporting goods store. “isn’t that illegal? like ‘tripping’ or ‘low sticking’ or whatever dumb hockey term you have.” the last comment was only to get a rise out of them, as usual, but he knew better than to stay within stick length and backed his way slowly down the aisle. maybe he could locate some shin guards.

“oh-ho, you’d like that wouldn’t you? let me defenses down so you could attack when i least expect it? not gonna happen, see, i’m privy to your tricks. you’re not gonna psych me out.” @emotionalriley

hiro sits up on the top of the workbench, eyes barely passing over whatever wilbur is working on. there are very few people hiro questions when it comes to anything science related, and while wilbur’s track record for getting in trouble should keep him off the list, wilbur is actually high up when it comes to who hiro puts his faith in. “that seems dangerous.” baymax announces, peering over wilbur’s shoulder. hiro scrunches up his nose at that, shaking his head and waving his hand dismissively. “but will it work?” hiro asks the robot, a knowing smile on his face. “the chances of success are 95.7% but-“ the robot begins and hiro cuts him off with a grin. “great! good enough for me. good enough for you Willy?” he asks his friend, smirk touching his features because he’s sure wilbur is gonna hate that nickname @wilburobinson

“just because i can’t think of a nickname for you right now, doesn’t mean i accept that.” wilbur warned, eyes narrowing momentarily at hiro before he turned his attention to baymax with an easy smile. “come on, big guy, have a little faith. when have i ever put us in danger? i mean like real, life threatening danger, don’t inflate the statics for no reason.” he informed the robot before standing and investigating his work. “95.7% is basically 98% and that’s practically a hundred, so yeah, it’s good enough for me.”

oh, i’m not a big fan of “favorite”. it implies the existence of a hierarchy that i refuse to acknowledge. different people bring different things to your life, ya know? why try to simplify the whole human experience with grading and ranking systems?

i’m gonna let you in on a little secret: all women are beautiful. so just jot that down.

i do lots of things with science. our lives are just constant science. i’ve just learned to harness my big brain for fun instead of wasting it on boring shit. thanks for asking, dad.

“I’m trying to study.” Sam glanced up from one of the many textbooks she had gathered around her, sitting on the floor in her room. She had cooped herself up in there for hours now, only taking a break to get herself a drink or something to eat. “So unless you’re going to make yourself useful, please go. “okay, first of all, um rude. a ‘hello, wilbur’ or ‘nice to see you wilbur it’s been soooo long’ would also be cool, you know, how civilized people greet each other?” he huffed dramatically before dropping himself onto the floor in front of her books. “second of all, i’m incredibly useful and resent the implication that i’m not.”
