"It’s not like I’m gonna offer him a cigarette, El.” He pointed out, though Nate would probably be the more responsible one out of the two of them together. “Isn’t that better than giving you child support?” He’d give it to her eventually, “Y’know, taking him and doing something with him.” What did teenage boys like to do? “Does he have like a girlfriend or boyfriend or partner? Are we letting him date?” He asked as if he was an active part of his life.

Lucky sighed, in truth the only reason she’d been annoyed was because he was late, and while she knew it wasn’t the end of the world, somehow, she always let it get her wound up. “No.” She admitted after a moment of contemplation and looked to Justin with an apologetic look, staring at him for a moment and feeling her heart lift a little. He always had an effect on her, and she never could tell if it was just because he was Flynn’s father, her first love, or if there really was something there between them still. Lately she’d been better at resisting the urge to get back together with him though, and they’d both been happier that way, plus, she was seeing someone else casually, at least. That was progress for her. “Oh please…” She rolled her eyes when he teased her and lead him into the house and before turning to look at him, her eyes narrowing, “Don’t patronize me, Justin. Of course I’ve fed Flynn, what do you think I am? Some incompetent mother?” She scolded before moving into the kitchen, and pulling a lid off of a pot that sat on the stove, dipping a wooden spoon into it to stir it’s contents. “I just made soup. Flynn had a bit of a cough earlier.” She looked back to him, “We’ll eat and then you can go wake him up and I’ll help get him ready?” She suggested, but it was really more of an order of instructions Justin would be following.

It was nice that they were on good terms. Maybe it was for the better that they weren’t together, maybe they were just meant to be co-parents. "I don’t think you’re incompetent. You’re like the most competent person I know.” Which was true. She had a baby young, still made a career for herself, and had her shit together. That was more than he could say. “Is he good? I mean, you’re the nurse so if he’s sick or something,” It just made him nervous, that’s all. She was way better at taking care of people in general. “I can help him get ready.” He knew she wasn’t asking him to, she would be doing it himself but he wanted to show that he was putting in effort too. “He just needs like underwear, right? That was a joke before you get all mad or whatever.” He pointed out, “But really, he just needs underwear, right?”

the line for the bakery was rather long and thankfully she wasn’t in a big rush. that was why she was fine just waiting even if others seemed less than pleased. she was staring down at her phone, scrolling through her phone. she was trying to figure out what it was that she intended on doing for the rest of her day. her morning classes at the gym had gone well even if she had noticed a bit of competitive streak with two mothers. someone had nudged her and she jumped at the contact. quickly she reached up to adjust her hearing aid,” do you need to go ahead of me?”

He always stopped for coffee somewhere, it usually switched depending on the day of the week. Today’s stop was Mad Batter. And in his quest to hop on the line, he misjudged how much space he had. “Oh, no. It pays sometimes to leave too early because you’re anxious that you’re going to be late to work.” He was oversharing, of course, but when was he not? “I just miscalculated my space. My spacial awareness is not that great, I’m sorry.”

⠀⠀ EL LET OUT A LOUD SIGH. her parents were always there for her for everything ; they basically raised nate when el was attempting to try and gain some sort of normalcy in her life growing up. it might not have worked , but she wasn’t going to bother them when nate only had one job.❛ i’m not asking for parents help , they already help me out. ❜ another sigh escaped her lips , she could tell he was lying but she wasn ‘ t going to say anything. ❛ if i can ‘ t even trust you with getting the child support , how can i even trust you with nate ? look at yourself , abel. ❜

It was unfortunate that this was how their relationship turned out, with Eleanor having to be the responsible one, asking him for child support while he sat on the sidelines. But it was all his fault and that was a hard pillow to swallow. “Did you just come here to give me a lecture or for the money?” He deliberately didn’t answer the question. “Nate’s big now. It’s not like he really needs to be watched when he’s hanging with me. I’m clean, if that’s what you’re asking.” He was as high as a kite right now but she didn’t need to know that, even though he probably looked it as well.

He liked to support the local shops, especially the bakery. It wasn’t his intention to run into Lina but honestly, he was glad that he had. To say that he had a soft spot for her was an understatement, though it wasn’t like he was rough around the edges to begin with. “This coffee’s pretty amazing.” He revealed as he took another sip, “So amazing I burnt my tongue once or twice on it.” Fooled him twice, shame on him. “It’s good to see you. the sun was just barely rising, so the inside of the auto shop was still dark as walker fumbled around. he hadn’t noticed when he hastily swung the door open that the wind caused the ‘closed’ sign to swing around to ‘come on in!’. there was only the dim light from the bathroom that created an outline of his side profile. walker wiped at his bloody, bruised nose as he waited for the sink water to get warm. he hummed to himself, stopping when he heard someone enter. “sorry– we’re closed.” he groaned through the pain. when his eyes caught the flipped sign, he let out a sigh. “fuck, sorry… look, i don’t even work here.” his battered face was still hidden from the other person in the dark.

He couldn’t exactly make out the face just yet but this was a familiar voice. “I know. I came in early cause I gotta finish this car before her owner comes in. She’s this scary old chick. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get my ass kicked if she’s not finished.” He shrugged, “So you gonna tell me why you’re here?” He asked, knowing it had to have been one of the members.

benny was bent over with his head underneath the lifted hood of his ‘97 bronco. his curses were low and under his breath but only became more clear as someone moved closer to him. “i’m not going to the shop.” he said when he saw a pair of shoes appear from the corner of his eye. benny knew they were probably thinking it, but he avoided that place like the plague.

He and Benny worked together inside as security, so even Ren sometimes liked holding conversations with the other man. Not to mention that he was an advisor for the gang. “I’m not going to force you to do anything.” He shrugged, “Just looks like you might need some help and I’m no expert but four hands are probably better than two. Unless you’ve got it under control.”

“I was staring at the stupid clock in my office all day.” Tamsyn whined playfully as she pressed their foreheads together. “Surprisingly boring, I’ll admit. No one came in with something sticking out of them so I guess I really can’t complain.” People in Charming were… creative with the ways in which they managed to need medical assistance. But it kept Tamsyn employed with a decent salary, so she’d take the odd mishaps here and there.

“You were one of those idiots back in the day.” She grinned at him. “Always knocking at my door with a pack of beers in one hand and some shit that needed patching up.” Tamsyn not so secretly enjoyed the old days when she opened the door and Marco was standing before her. She’d take all the alone time with him she could get, he was her person. “Our room could stand a little livening up.” Her brows raised teasingly.

He understood where she was coming from, considering that he was tapping on his pants, looking to leave. Even though he was the owner, and could leave whenever he technically wanted to, he had to at least had some self-restraint. “That’s the best part of your job, havin’ to put something back in. It always looks so gross.” There was multiple reasons why he didn’t do what she did, ranging from the fact that he just wasn’t as smart but he also couldn’t stomach some of that shit. "I like to think I’ve grown up a bit. Just a bit, though,” He pleaded, hoping she’d agree. Though he did know he had some idiot tendencies but that was a given considering who he was. “And I gave you a good deal.” He insisted as he kissed her cheek. “The only thing wrong with our room is that we’re not in it.”

I could beat anyone even when I’m not able to tell my right foot from my left.” He said proudly, “It’s not that I’d even start one, I’m too chill for that.” No, he wasn’t in fact any sort of chill. “I just like to end ‘em.” Maybe she was getting the better end of the bargain but he took out his lighter anyways. “You know, smoking’s not good for you.”

“honestly, I think there are very few things you can actually count on in this world. death, taxes, the mcdonalds icecream machine being broken, and that tiny umbrellas make drinks taste better. it’s just science.” she said, sipping on a shamelessly fruit based cocktail. she saves the whiskey drinking for meetings. it makes her look sharp and mature, able to handle the substance without flinching so she appears untouchable. but tonight it’s just her, and for the briefest of moments. she might actually be a person under the designer perfume.

There was a point in time, one in which Ricky wasn’t sure when he’d say it exactly happened, but Alex sort of withdrew herself from the family. First Helena and then her. He really was dropping the ball on being a big brother. "Science is actually understanding natural things following a method.” He insisted, “That’s more of a list of probably things that are most likely to occur. I’m a sucker for umbrella drinks. Pina Coladas? Sign me up.”

⠀⠀ EL SHOULDN ‘ T HAVE BEEN SURPRISED , when abel told her that he didn ‘ t have the money. she shouldn ‘ t be surprised at anything he does these days. she might have been foolish back when they were teenagers , but this was a lot different. she had a kid that she needed to support , their kid. she wanted a better life for him than his two parents had. she had thought that maybe , just maybe , deep down abel wanted that two but how he had been acting ; clearly he didn ‘t want the same. so much for having good faith. ❛ of course you don ‘ t have anything. ❜ she shook her head , her mama bear mode being activated. ❛ maybe if you started to clean up your act, maybe you wouldn ‘ t have to deal with me constantly reminding you. ❜

“Can’t your parents help out?” It wasn’t a fair ask and on some level, he felt bad. The last thing he wanted to do was put all this on her but what else was he supposed to do? He wanted their son to thrive and part of him had already accepted that he needed to do that without his dad. He’d probably just drag him down. “My act’s clean. I’m clean.” Yeah, he needed to clarify that. “Can you come back in like a day or two? I can get the money by then. Maybe I can even see Nate. It’s been a while.”
