Lexington Pride 2018

New bullhorn megaphone that I bought myself for my birthday works great.

Took me about two solid hours of making fun of the hate-mongers at full volume, but I finally ran them off. They baited and insulted me, and every time they talked to me, I made out to the onlookers that they were propositioning me, or confessing to me that they were secretly gay and thought I was hot. I mocked them as a bunch of butthurt whiney-babies who were mad because they couldn’t make everybody believe what they believed. They kept running around taking people’s pictures to try to intimidate them. I blasted them for being so obsessed with homosexuals that this was how they chose to spend their Saturday, that they’d probably go home and touch themselves thinking of what they had seen, that statistically speaking, homophobes are more likely to be closeted gays. That stuff DEFINITELY riled them up. They rotated between three “preachers,” but I outlasted four cycles and kept heckling them as they packed up and stalked off. The moronic bullies.

My voice is raw and my shoulders and knees are killing me. Thank you to all the beautiful people who brought me water and fistbumps and thumbs-up. It was a brutal trial in that heat, but SO worth it. I especially enjoyed watching them huddle up and decide that I was more stubborn than they were. Priceless.

Now, next year, I need another 6-10 people to drop 25 bucks on Amazon and get their own and then we can drown them out completely. Maybe a bullhorn barbershop quartet or a megaphone chorus.

Theirs shouldn’t be the only voice amplified. They feed off the intimidation that their volume provides and feel like it somehow entitles them to speak over everyone without listening and without consequences…
