“How are you so calm? I almost lost you!” A shakes B’s limp shoulders as they stare on emptily.

“Hey!” A gently slaps B’s cheek.

“Don’t fall asleep, talk to me, talk to me about anything.”

B’s eyes struggle to stay open and they start to go lax.

The phone is in B’s hand. They try to steady their shaking as they dial the number. Their finger hovers near the green button.

There’s a moment of hesitation.

A’s clammy fingers grip B’s arm and they turn around agonisingly, trying not to make contact with A’s glassy eyes.

Propping whumpee up.

Their head weakly lolls against caretaker’s chest. They open their mouth to say something but the effort is too great.

Caretaker buries their nose into whumpee’s hair and mumbles something quiet against their shoulder.

Being. Carried. Bridal. Style.

-Caretaker holding whumpee’s body tenderly to their chest, gently setting them down onto the bed, kissing their sweaty forehead.

-Running for dear life, struggling, falling, but never giving up, never dropping them, not if it means saving them.

B is browsing the aisles, trying to look for some snacks for A. They pick up a bag of chips, looking pensive, before discarding it and moving towards the healthier side of the store, A needs as many nutrients as possible right now.

Their phone buzzes in their pocket.

“Hello?”

“B, c-can you please come home, I couldn’t make it to th-“ they are interrupted by painful coughing and gagging.

“H-hey are you sick or-“

“I’m fine, now come at me with all you got.”

B begrudgingly agrees and runs at A, they trust them to take care of themselves. At the last second, A falters, their eyes roll into the back of their head and they fall to the ground in a dead faint.

“A?!”

“A?!”

“Squeeze my hand if you can hear me.”
