Damn, he wished he knew what he was getting into when he promised to tag along with Phoenix to her first doctor’s appointment. Youssef had ditched the late night studio session with his producer to wake up first thing in the morning and drive the love of his life to their first appointment– and sonogram. The twitching and quivering anxiety he was experiencing mid-driving was unequivocally evident, making him even more anxious. He wanted a girl. No, he wanted a boy. Fuck it… he didn’t care as long as they were healthy.

“You got a preference on gender?” He asked, ignoring the jittery mess of hands turning his wheel towards her gynecologist’s office. “I think we should do the shit white people be doing. Have the doctor tell me the baby’s gender and then you pop one of those balloons and shit? At the shower? But instead of blue or pink, a tiara or a grill come out the balloon.” 

“Hmm?” Looking up from her phone Phoenix smiled noticing for the first time that Youssef looked just as nervous as she felt. She had wanted him to come to the first appointment and to her surprise he had been up and ready before her. A soft hand running over her midsection she laughed as he mentioned the idea of a gender reveal. “To be honest I have been having dreams about little feet, curly hair…and these big brown eyes but I have no idea if it’s a girl or boy. I just want a healthy baby. We could be having twins.” The idea of two kids caused a slight shiver to run down her form and shaking her head she frowned.
