Being the “eldest daughter” (and SINGLE daughter) often comes with a high dose of pressure, be it academically or for the future. When your parents have astronomical expectations for you, failure becomes the end of the world.

Preforming at 100% becomes the norm and any sign of weakness and failure means you’re not trying hard enough or don’t care…. That’s what’s been instilled in my mind since the age of 14. Being a woman of course makes it so much worse, because in a world of patriarchy one must prove herself to be worthy of her title, status and success. And for a teenage girl who wants to become free once she’s old enough to move out of her parent’s house, it’s mind crushing.

Be it as it may, I can’t help but be a bit grateful for all all the effort my parents have gone through to raise me as independent, confident and to always aspire more more MORE AND MORE!!! However, even at 22 those expectations still remain. And it isn’t just from them, but from the rest of the family and outsiders. Having this pressure makes you seem “perfect” and constantly make people compare others to you: “you should be more like her” “why don’t you work hard like her” etc. When in reality it makes me feel like a sort of fraud. Sometimes I just want to bedrott all day, and give up on everything. I’m not always ok, and that’s fine.

Aside from that, being a single child….. kinda sucks. Of course I enjoy my free time but when parents expect you to secure a good future not only for yourself, but for them, it gets exhausting and lowkey maddening. I might end up bald from all the stress lol.

Anyway.. this is just a little rant. At the end of the day I’m a free woman trying to uplift that little girl who dreams of a good life and will achieve it !!! #neversaynever

Bedrotting rn, Star

Ever since I can remember, I have always had this fear of being seen. As time passed, I realized it had become this monster chasing me through my mind, telling me to hide.

It's so comfortable to stay in my bubble, safe and away from the eyes of the world, however I yearn to be seen... the irony right. I dream of someday basking in the feeling of acceptance, to be in the spotlight and be appreciated. Quirks and all.

These past few years have been focused on my growth, and even though I have come a long way from that shy girl who barely spoke to any of her classmates, I still feel uncertain and scared to put myself out there, to take risks.

Sometimes you have to give yourself a little push, in my case more like a shove down a cliff. So, for this and many other reasons I decided it was time to face my fear of being perceived. And it's never that simple, fear is so complex with all its shapes, sizes and colors.

I am taking this blog as part of my process in my new journey, to experience and discover myself alongside many of you if I ever get the pleasure of meeting your beautiful souls. So, welcome to my page!!
