Review: Book 82 (2023) A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher What rating should you give to a book whose narrator keeps addressing the reader in the first half of the book so often that when she doesn't do it in the second half as much you get confused? Or when an entomologist keeps talking about birds and giving the reader infodumps about birds? Or when that same entomologist, who is in fact a archaeoentomologist, was on a dig in the past, and they were working on unearthing a human skeleton and she did not recognize a kid's skull and was confused by the fact that the permanent teet are in the kid's skull, she thought it was an alien. Dude! If you are working on a dig of human remains, one would think you would be familiar with what a skeleton looks like... but that would mean using your brain. Or someone with basic knowledge of biology to check your book... It seems however that T Kingfisher is not the hyped author for me. After reading two of her books I honestly don't see the appeal. The plot is basic, the writing is nothing to write home about (hihihi), narration is annoying a lot of the times, and the characters are meh to annoying. The only thing that I really liked in this book was Hermes. Other than that, meh 2/5
Book 2 - Mrs McGinty's Dead by Agatha Christie
(Poirot #25) I think there were just too many characters and "unknown" characters in this one. I prefer the Poirot mysteries that revolve around one household or one family...
“Authors were shy, unsociable creatures, atoning for their lack of social aptitude by inventing their own companions and conversations.”

"Perhaps a copy could also be superior to the original, create a new reality by avoiding old mistakes."

Book 1 - The Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons
(Hyperion Cantos #4)
This was a fun ending to a great series. There was so much good in here. Sadly it was a bit marred by the OH MY GOD LET'S LIST ALL THE NAMES EVER paragraphs. But other than that a good read. The series overall is one of the best. Honestly I don't understand people who don't continue and finish all 4. It might be that the writing style of the first one never returns, but in my head that was not a bad thing. I wasn't much of a fan of the style of the first book. The main character was a bit slow on catching up to things but all in all great. I will most definitely re-read this series at some point in the future. A good start to my #Reading2023 spree
Author’s Note: as always there are spoilers ahead (but no too many) Yesterday was a really productive day for me… I bingewatched Altered Carbon, and I don’t regret a single minute…
