yo!! i love your art so much!! i saw a tutorial ask thing, and when you get some free time (only if u want tho) could you show how you draw your faces? like head shape and the actual face? (nose, eyes, etc.) you are one of my fave artists and i look up to your style n' such, but dont stress yourself out too much or anything if you arent up for it. i'll appreciate your art in any way, honestly!! have a lovely day~
Hi! Okay Iām gonna show how I work :)
I simply base on a circleĀ

requested!! its just some stuff ive learned idk dont trust me too much, i had the parts for this laying around for days and was too lazy to put text on it i also added a collage of some chests ive done last minute
iām gonna drop an art tip here
i think an important thing to learn, especially if you start out with drawing anime, is that faces donāt necessarily have to narrow from top to bottom
i like to think of wide top, wide middle, wide bottom, and rectangle-like as the 4 main face shapes
what you should keep in mind about them:
youāre only halfway done: the jawlines, the width-length ratio, the amount of fat in the cheeks, the intensity or subtlety of the faceās curves are all important components you still have to decide on after choosing the shape itself
none of these shapes are exclusively feminine or masculine, donāt hesitate drawing them on any gender
most people in real life have some variation of the wide middle type
if you are trying to draw real people, getting the shape of their face down is the first step
iāve seen tutorials say the shape of the face can tell a lot of the characterās personality - you donāt necessarily have to live by that rule. as long as you arenāt unrealistically drastic about their proportions, their face shape determines their inner qualities as much as it would in real life (not at all)

Any advice on necks? they are my nemesis ;;
Im not gonna go into detail w the muscles but if you wanna learn the specifics here are some good diagrams! 1,2Ā Hope that helps a little! Looks up rl refs too!
If this ask was of a purely technical nature, the answer is that I vary, depending on what kind of picture it is. Iām not very impressed by the eyes I usually make; they mostly seem to consist of five lines or so.Ā
The thought process for them is more important to me. That way I can at leastĀ try to get a good variation and give each character their own snowflake look. Above is a very boiled down version of what goes on in my mind when I draw the eyes. Iām more sure about some characters than othersā¦

Tutorial #2: Hands
Iāve always avoided doing tutorials before because I felt like if I made one, it was like trying to declare that I know best. And I donāt. Art is beautifully subjective and everyone draws differently. Which is why art is so COOL. Nothing I say here is something you must go by. And you may enjoy working in a way completely contrary to me. Thatās totally cool. But these are just my observations, the types of things I look at and keep in mind while Iām drawing. And I hope you find it interesting!
Also, I know the -normal- way that everyone does a tutorial is to draw a million pictures for you to look at and reference. Well, Iām not going to do that. Because there are a million other tutorials for you to look at for that. Iām going to teach you to observe and do this on your own. Mostly Iām just trying to point out the kinds of things I keep in mind while drawing, and that I think itās important people notice while drawing certain these subjects.Ā
~
Well! You guys had a lot of interest in different subjects for tutorials,Ā but Hands was high up on the list so Iāll start with that! (You mayĀ regret getting me started on the subject)
First, Iād like to say how much this pleases me. I hope this means thatĀ you guys enjoy the way I draw hands. I LOVE drawing hands. As youĀ probably know since I often sit around rambling about how much I loveĀ hands. This is not to say I always draw them perfectly. Iāve drawn myĀ share of wonky hands and you know what? Thatās okay, Iām only human.Ā Thatās life, thatās art.Ā So get that into your head because that is my number one lesson: You canĀ not, and will not, always draw everything perfectly. Donāt beat yourselfĀ up about it! I certainly try not to.Ā
The thing about hands is that they are beautifully expressive. FiveĀ digits that can move independently. That can stretch out, curl and makeĀ infinite gestures, hands are wonderful! If you know what youāre doing,Ā you can show a characterās emotion through their hands alone. A girl isĀ nervous, so she twists the hem of her shirt between her fingers. A boy isĀ angry, so he clenches his hands into fists. A man is impatient, so heĀ taps his finger on his desk. If you saw someone doing any of these thingsĀ with their hands, would you even have to look at their face, to know howĀ they felt? Probably not.
~
And you know what else is awesome about hands? You have them. You haveĀ two perfect models attached to your very own wrists. You can stare atĀ them all day while you draw them. Donāt forget to check out your ownĀ hands and see what poses are or are not natural for them.
.
.
Now, on to the actual drawing part. Things to keep in mind!
Fingernails. Really, do not skip drawing the fingernails. If you do, itĀ looks as though your character has gloves on, or as if their fingers areĀ oddly fleshy and bare. Fingernails are not hard to draw, and you dontĀ even have to draw them in any detailed fashion. Even just a little markĀ to indicate the nail is fine, but doĀ acknowledgeĀ them! Ā
Knuckles. We have them! Now this varies between men and women. If you areĀ trying to draw a girlās delicate hand, you probably will not emphasizeĀ her knuckles, but you should still show a hint of them. Itās a bit moreĀ realistic, plus, it helps show the structure of the hand. (Itās also justĀ more interesting to look at in my opinion). Again, just small indicationsĀ of the knuckles is all you need, you dont need to draw everything inĀ aching detail. On the flip side, when drawing a manās hand, the knucklesĀ would be more prominant. It just looks -manlier- when you show musclesĀ and sharp bones. (Disclaimer! These are my personal opinons, do whateverĀ you want, itās your drawing!)Ā
THUMBS! The little bastard who does his own thing. I guess the thing I try to pay attention to while drawing thumbs is the fleshy bit of your palm that is affected by the thumbās movement. (Yes, I use such technical terms.) I see this mistake made often, so just make sure when drawing the line of your palm, that it doesnāt meet the thumb exactly, it actually starts from above the thumb⦠er⦠well just look at the drawing, itās easier to explain in pictures.Ā
I guess my last comment would be hands at rest. When a hand is relaxed, itās not flat out. Just relax your own hand and see, the fingers curl themselves in naturally. So if you are drawing someone at ease, donāt draw their hand with their fingers all stretched out and palm flat, but with the fingers curling in just a little bit. (Not a fist either, thatās a sign of tension). Just⦠Relaxed!
Anyway, I hope this was useful to y'all and that it will provide some help when you draw hands in the future!Ā
