Normalcy.
Something she had sought since the last year of middle school… and yet, something she was still so far from achieving. Mei had no reason to believe that her first year of high school was going to be unusual. In fact, her class was relatively normal. None of them treated her like an outcast, and she had even made a few friends (none of which were really close friends, but still). A foreign transfer student? Mei asked herself when she got the news of the newcomer’s arrival. She had to remind herself at that point that transfer students- foreign or otherwise- weren’t strange by themselves. It wasn’t until she’d met him that she felt a true sense of unease. “…Yes. I do.” Her expression was one of slight sadness and puzzlement. “If you would like, I can show you to it. I’m not doing anything better right now anyways.” She instantly turned on her heel and headed in the direction before even waiting for a response. I know for certain that that boy shouldn’t be here… she thought. Misaki almost wanted to cry at the thought of the calamity following her, but she did no such thing. She merely maintained her usual look- void of nearly all emotion.
IT WAS HARD FOR MACKENZIE to understand for he caught an inkling of her thoughts. “A-ah! Yes!” He followed along, his clothes drenched completely. “Hahh...t-thank you for helping me. I’m just so lost.” Mackenzie tried to smile, as he walked right behind her. He thought nothing of the fact she seemed tense and uneasy around him. “M-my name’s Mackenzie. Mackenzie Owens. What’s your name, Miss?” The fact his name bore a near resemblance to his name in the previous life was almost mocking in a way; as if to tell her just how blatantly obvious he was the ‘other’ yet knowing well how few would believe her.
Walking along the river, Mackenzie tried to approach her a bit closely. “Uhm...s-so...what do you think about Yomiyama?” He asked curiously. “It’s so beautiful...nature is so vibrant and the mountain air is so crisp...I just wish people were a bit more welcoming, you know but you can’t have everything!” He tried to strike conversation with Mei, as if casually brushing aside the calamity that was to befall this town once again.

THEY SAY THE LONG SHADOW of Misaki would follow anyone wherever they may go. Perhaps this meeting, in some ways, was something that was a long time coming. There were news of a foreigner who moved into the town, though derisive murmurs would pass. It was only natural: those from the countryside were far more wary of strangers from the outside world. Many questions abounded. What did his parents do? Why move to Yomiyama instead of the bigger cities?
At first, it must be hard to fit in. Judging by the fact that the brown-haired young man tried to wring his shirt dry was enough of proof that his school year wasn’t going to be easy. Already it seemed as though the bullies flocked to him, the sight of his leather bag floating down the river an early sign of things to come. However, the boy turned to her, a bit surprised, if not...shy.
“G-good afternoon.” The young man spoke. He had a distinct accent, a Scottish one to be precise, but his Japanese was somewhat on the spot. “Excuse me...but do you know where this address is?” A cold air of dread falls, as the young man looks onto her, curious.
...It had begun.

Even after she had released another fiery shot, a visible small frown still remained on her usually stoic visage. She doesn’t understand. He is an Unknown but he doesn’t know about it? As if this city hadn’t been strange enough. To make her life in Tomoshi city much worse, she had to encounter this strange person–or being–that her Code detected as Unknown.
He probably tried to imply that he wasn’t a human. Then, what is he? She doesn’t know. Is there any other creature other than Unknown that could be detected by her Code?
“… You don’t know about Unknown? You don’t know about yourself? Hilarious.”
She knew she shouldn’t waste much bullets. This already took too much effort from her. Just by talking with him alone already wasted her supposed-to-be free time and all.
“Then, why don’t you try to prove something to me? That, you mean no harm? Do you really think people can believe you if you don’t make any visible proof?”
Honestly, she never met any of her Kiznaiver partners, so she couldn’t care less about them. However, she decided to stop shooting, for now. Listened to his possible explanation might help her in getting an idea of what he is. Though, of course, doesn’t mean she decreased her guard. Without her guns, she also has some passive abilities. Though, without the help of deceased Tokyo sub-head, the aura fortification wouldn’t be as strong as it usually be.
IN SOME WAYS WHITEFACE WROTE himself into a corner. Truth was, he wasn’t too sure what he was. He knew he had once been a King, those hazy days of recollection having faded as Aeons passed. Even so..would she accept that half-baked explanation? Would she even accept the fact that while he did seem to be much like the Unknown she so vehemently opposed, he had no idea why? Would she just think he was lying? “...It’s true. I...don’t remember much about myself. Truth is...I only know I’m not human. I may even be one of those Unknown..but please. You have to believe me.” He tells her, raising his wrist, the glowing blue scar of the Kizna link ever so evident.
“...If I was truly an Unknown...would I have done something like this?” He wasn’t sure if she’d buy it, but violence was not something he desired to go through. “If...if you want, I can show you what I’m really like. But...I can’t guarantee your safety if I do...” Something told him this would do little to assuage the red-head, but it was the best he could come up with. Outside of, well, just fighting back.
Tidbit #1
Sharnoth is a vast city situated on the North-west of the Dreamscapes. Closer to the ancient city of Nyhargo, it is the realm of the Outer God Nyarlathohep. Unlike other Outer Gods, whom were either exiled to different stars or created cults for their own worship, Nyarlathohep did what no other being similar to him did: he disavowed his place as a malevolent God and instead became a King. Ruling from a castle built entirely out of onyx, Nyarlathohep ruled with due benevolence. At first, humans, the most fragile of the beings within the Dreamscape were the first to come to his kingdom, soon Sharnoth swelled in size as creatures of all shapes and form soon settled there, making Sharnoth the most diverse of the cities within the Dreamscape. Yith, Byakee, Shoggoth, Shiki and humans were but some of the many beings that soon called Sharnoth Home. And while he was ever so busy trying to maintain peace within his own kingdom and amongst species, many did shower him in presence, calling him their Righteous King. It’s sister city is Pnakotus, the cultural and capital city of the Great race of Yith..
At the center of Sharnoth is the Pillar of Inganock, a tall spiral carved out of marble. A gift from the nigh-omniscient Great race of Yith, it serves as an uplink that allows any being to travel to other worlds and places within the Dreamscape when activated. Powerlines extending from beyond supply much-needed energy to various parts of the city. Buildings ranging from houses, bazaars, taverns and even bath houses populate the colorful city, frequented by many citizens of varying race.
To Nyarlathohep, unity meant more to him than subjugation. Because of this, he was considered ‘weak’ by the other Gods. And while he maintained an uneasy calm between him and the other Gods, time and time again conflict would arise, ending often in his humiliating capitulation, such as when he surrendered ownership of the city of Nyhargo for the release of his foreign Minister Shareido, a Yith consul and a thousand human gift bearers to Shub-Niggurath, who knowingly threatened him for their lives despite their peaceful attempts. Nevertheless, Nyarlathohep was well loved by his people.

The Tale of the Dark King
This is the story of a Place that wasn’t here. A time that wasn’t now. There was a single King in a certain Castle. A king all by himself. No one besides the King was in his country.
That wasn’t always the case. There used to be a great many people Of all sorts in his country. and the king’s life was a busy one. However, one day… Something was born outside the country. It was a dazzling, radiant light from outside. It was the light of those who lived outside the country. It was a light that smaller, weaker and more ephemeral creatures had finally obtained. It was a joyous thing. Everyone blessed the small creatures. The King also blessed the small creatures Because it was a joyous thing. The small creatures had always been afraid of darkness, clinging to the king and the bigger people in the country to live. However, they no longer needed to. The small creatures had obtained light. At long last, light filled the world. It shone down upon the king’s country as well. One day, the people of that country realized What this light meant. The fact that they couldn’t live within the light produced by the small creatures. They realized that. And then… The people decided to leave. While blessing the light of the little creatures They went to the other side of darkness. There were none who wanted to fight. Because they knew. They knew that they were alive only because the small creatures lived. Everyone knew that. So all the people in the country left the world. One by one. The peoples and Kings of other countries also left for the otherside, of their own will, one by one. One by one. And then, finally… when everyone had vanished from that country… Only one person remained. The king. Even though everyone else in the country had traveled elsewhere, he remained there all on his own. In a country with no one in it. The king couldn’t accept it. The fact that everyone would disappear tomorrow. The fact that all the peoples and kings would leave. He couldn’t accept the disappearance of his country or the changing of the world. And then… The king chose to be alone. For the first time he spoke to the small creatures… What had he said? The king’s words didn’t reach the small creatures. They had grown used to the warmth of light, so they couldn’t hear the voice of the King of Darkness. Not until they stepped into the darkness themselves… The King became truly and completely alone. All alone in his big, black castle. Spending hundreds of thousands of Nights alone…

No, she believed she wasn’t miscalculated. The code she had on the back of her neck was glowing red, meaning that it detected a dangerous entity nearby. What else if it wasn’t Unknown? After all, the Code only could detect Unknown–as far as she knew–and creatures alike.
Which means, this person–no, this creature–was dangerous.
Reloaded another bullet in one of her ice-element gun after released one shot that finally hit him after few missing ones, she still stood, didn’t budge even when he said he meant no harm. The trigger of her ice-element gun still pointed right at his direction, with the other fire-element one on her other hand, waiting for its turn.
“I don’t care about Tomoshi City at all.“ She spoke the matter-of-fact. “However, you’re not the usual Unknown I know. It’s hilarious to find an Unknown that can communicate pretty well.” Ordinary Unknowns would take a form as incomprehensible creature while–at times–making indecipherable sounds. They also had white and red colors.
But this one…takes human form, and can speak in human language, that Asuha understands. Never once she encountered this one, nor it was ever being talked in Tri-City meeting. Nevertheless, she found him dangerous.
“You can destroy this city for all I care. This fight is definitely exhausting and I don’t want to waste my effort in vain. But, if you attempt in attacking Chiba afterwards, I won’t let you escape. Unless you can explain that you have no ill intention.”
Who knows what kind of power that he has, other than his unusual form and ability to speak in human language? Asuha knows very little about Unknown and even her power itself. Without any guidance from adults nor company from her brother and Chiba students, she had to handle this by herself.
Still, since when the invasion has reached a city she barely knew of? She should have been reported about this…
COLD. OH SO VERY COLD, her words were. In a way that manner of talk offended Whiteface. All lives were precious. How could she so easily write off the idea that the lives of people here were worth less than the lives of the people in that other city? Judging by the killing intent vivid in her eyes, she wasn’t about to let him go that easily. Whiteface hoped to be able to resolve this without violence, but it seems he has no choice. “Unknown? I’m not certain as to what those are. Are you referring to the Unspeakable Horrors of the Outer Realm?” He asked, only to receive a flaming bullet, to which he narrowly avoided.
He just keeps on talking, while she just kept on firing. It didn’t seem like he would have a good day today; he could only hope Otegine can forgive him for getting into a quarrel like this. “You share the same bond as I, right? Aren’t you concerned for your friends if you are hurt at all? I don’t promise any harm to fall into anyone. Can you believe me on that?” While Whiteface was ever so wary, he wanted to perhaps try and speak sense into her. The hatred she had for these beings...it wasn’t something he was fond of regardless.

WHITEFACE DIDN’T REALLY FEEL ANYTHING was lacking moving into the Yasuragi District. Having spent too much time within the oppressive darkness of his room, everything was a godsend, even if they had no reliable electricity available. Something about ‘team building’ involved keeping the house operating, even if it meant trying to ensure that the fire to cook their foot was running without the use of a stove. Without having felt what it was like to live in an urban setting, Whiteface was rather comfortable living as he was.
Now, however, was his turn to chop wood. Holding the axe, he squinted slightly at how heavy it was. The piece of log sat before the stump, causing Whiteface to look around curiously. Obaa-chan told him that he needed to cut down the wood in order to allow it to fit in their fire place. So, with a heave, he raised his axe a bit too quickly, causing the blade to fly from behind him, landing just inches from where Otegine stood. And when he lowered the supposed axe, he was surprised when it only made a ‘thunk’ noise and was missing the axe head. “...Hm? Where did it go...?” He asked himself, looking around, unaware that it was just planted against the wall, inches away from burying itself on Otegine.

HE CAN RECOUNT, WORD FOR word the 1000 Millennia history of the lost city of Nyhargo and Sharnoth. He can speak in vivid detail the disappearance of the radiant city Sarnath. He can speak the canto needed to open the Obsidian Webway portal at castle Inganock without the aid of his scribes. He can recite Cthullu and Hastur’s true names without falter or falling to insanity. Whiteface has much knowledge of the Eldritch Outer realm and beyond...
But why couldn’t he tell why humans put holes in their bread? It was just...so confusing. And to top that off, some happen to be savory, while others are sweet! But to think some of this type of bread can be called the same thing but have no holes (But a sweet filling inside)...truly, it was a mystery even an Eldritch God can’t solve
The two shared a bond, in many ways. Sure they weren’t from the same group, but Whiteface inspected the sprinkle donut far longer than even the most curious person would. Did he even think it was meant to be eaten? “Excuse me...but why do humans put holes in their bread?” Whiteface asked kindly, despite awkwardly spending time with the young lady in a cafe, Whiteface just had to ask the most curious of questions..

A VIRUS? PERHAPS. BUT IN a way, Whiteface was curious about the outside world. Once the type to always trap others, Whiteface has changed for the better since then. He just felt guilty always taking up and somewhat corrupting Alter Ego’s data, so instead Whiteface rooted himself in Chihiro’s smartphone.
He could only hope she wouldn’t mind. “Ahh. Good morning, Chihiro.” Whiteface greeted on the phone, resting on the right side of the phone as she unlocked it. “Have you eaten Breakfast yet?”

BGM: Unseen Entities
PERHAPS ONE OF THE MOST unfortunate coincidences was the fact that Whiteface, wholly inhuman in every conceivable way, could easily be identified as one of the Unknown. While it is true he carries about an enigma that very few people would know, it changed little that he was much like the enemy that Asuha would readily fight.
If anything, the pain he felt reminded him just how dire this confrontation was. And with the Kizna suppressing much of his already reduced power, there was little Whiteface could do but dodge. But to think...this was how pain felt. He had much to apologize for to the others later on. Cluching his wound, the frostbite forming around his wounded arm may prove to be severe if this fight went on for long.
Over the bustling streets of the Yorokobi District, Whiteface stood far apart, in a moment of silence as he tried to parley with the redhead. “Now...I understand why you must strive and try to kill me, but...I am afraid I wish no harm whatsoever.” He said. “That said...I won’t hesitate to fight back if you truly wish to kill me.” My, what a hindrance. Even so, he hoped he could atleast get her to speak, even if he is much like the sworn enemy she was to destroy.

THE FACADE MAY LIE, BUT the soul speaks only the truth. Never had Whiteface been so sickened by looking into that figure. Tarnished black and mottled with stains of vice, Whiteface knew by looks alone that this person was not the type he would get along with. After all...the darkness in their soul disgusted him. Apprehension filled his form, a look of condenscending disgust plain upon his features.
Yet, he knew just how fallible humans were. The mark that glowed on his wrist told him that, he in, a sense, was connected. With a smile on his face, Whiteface tried not to think about what he can truly see, and focused instead on what he could do. “Good morning, Sir.” Whiteface politely greeted. He wasn’t really sure just how ‘well known’ this project was, but it was good to meet others like him in the experiment far from his home district of Yasuragi.

PERHAPS THE STRANGEST OF THOSE who decided to participate, Whiteface was bewildered to finally be able to feel. As a Great Old One born from the dream of the Idiot God he had long struggled to understand what it meant to be human. In his eyes humans had been nothing more than synapses and stimuli that verify what they perceive to be reality, but to experience it first hand was something else, entirely. After the procedure he felt things he was unable to feel before: the wind touching upon his skin, the blowing brand of his scar and the faint heartbeat of a few others. Synchronized in spirit through their bond of pain. And looking towards the scar to his right wrist, To Whiteface it was a dream come true.
Basking in the sunset’s crimson glow, Whiteface looked up from where he sat, overlooking the Tomoyama valley. While the inconveniences of a more rural setting was lost to Whiteface, he took in all the senses that was granted to the previously Eldritch being: the sound of birds chirping, the rustling of the leaves and the delicate embrace of the wind. Mesmerized by the sunset, Whiteface gazed into the horizon, unaware of the other’s presence. In exchange for his ability to ‘feel’ as a human does, he lost most of his residual prowess as the projection of an Eldritch God. Nevertheless, he would have never gone back, even if given the chance.
