When the world keeps testing me

Be gentle with yourself, you are healing.

don’t feel guilty for not being able to handle everything, for needing a break. you need to look after yourself, too. self care is not selfish.

dear cute person: you won’t feel like this forever. you will heal, break down, and start over multiple times before you feel okay. and maybe it will take months and years for you to feel truly okay and at peace with yourself and what happened. but the future isnt bleak, and you’re never alone in this lonely time. there’s always something good waiting for you, new interests and rabbit-holes to fall into, cute and beautiful people to make your heart flutter (who aren’t always real, and that’s okay too), fluffy animals to pet, new books to sniff, cookie recipes to try, pianos and journals and paintbrushes waiting for you, quiet streets to walk on as the sun sets, or songs that are like comforting hugs when you’re crying at 2am. whatever it is, let it keep you company as you heal, and don’t let go. may the little things that bring you joy stay with you, and may new ones arise when you least expect it, and let these little things give you little pieces of hope and happiness when you most need it. have faith that you will make it through this, and know that one day you’ll feel all the warmest feelings again.

please know your mental capacity right now with consuming social media, news outlets, etc. because it’s so much. watch a funny tv show or movie. dance around to your favorite song. call your best friends. order from your go-to take-out spot. eat some chocolate. you did everything you could do. I love you. you deserve the world. whatever happens, you’ll be okay.
