1) Try and fix things.

I know this a shitty first step, but if they meant something to you then it was special. Fight for it.

So it didn’t work? Well, it wasn’t your fault. You tried remember? You gave it a shot.

Now it’s time to start to let go.

2) Feel.

Cry, scream, get angry and then let yourself be sad. Watch cheesy movies, eat ice cream and run while listening to very violent gangster rap.

 3) Let there be distance.

This part is hard. Delete numbers, block profiles, hide photos. Anything to keep them from being the one you run to.

 4) Focus on “the other”

Re-prioritize your goals and restore your happiness.  Set tiny goals and met them, reward yourself. Find your joy again; spend time with those you love, meet new people and baby step your way to wholeness.

 5) Simmer.

In time you’ll see that whatever happened is over, all is forgiven and wounds have healed. Life is so much bigger and better when you embrace it.
