Ugh, I did not get nearly as much done on the Galadriel dancing dress as I wanted today, but you know how it goes. First you sleep in, then you have to sit around for a while, then you have to go to the grocery store because you realize you're out of milk, then it's lizard time, then the lizard wants to go outside, then it's too hot so you can't move and suddenly it's 8pm.
Anyway, I did get the dress pieces cut out, and the skirt part assembled. And the sleeves hemmed. What sleeves, you may ask? Well, if you look at this picture, you can see some kind of sleeve things hanging down, covering the side of her belt. I thought it was some kind of sacque back at first, but now I think it's just a kind of drapey, open sleeve thing.
Normally with this kind of fabric I'd do a rolled hem by hand, but let's be real, that would take many more hours than i want to spend. Into the rolled hem foot you go.
Also I did have a moment of questioning if I'd have a good enough thread match among my collection, but this one came in a random grab bag of discontinued thread I got the other week, and.
Genuinely do not know if I could have picked a better one intentionally.
So there's my progress for today: cutting things out, assembling a skirt, hemming the sleeves, and matching thread. Magical.
And in case anybody's curious, here's the creature who insisted on going outside for an hour when it was 34 degrees, and it's 100% her fault I got heat exhaustion and felt like butts all afternoon and evening.
At least it's supposed to only be like 22 tomorrow. Much more acceptable.
I thought ‘lizard time’ was a great new name for bed-rotting/procrastination-paralysis
