when it's summer but David Lynch and Mark Frost still got you doing homework if you want to try to understand what the fuck is happening in this new season of Twin Peaks

this might come off as totally embarrassing and lacking self-awareness, but fuck it. so, the opening credit sequence in #BabyDriver nearly made me cry. when i was in the 3rd grade, i'd spend all my spare time dreaming about the kind of film i've always wanted to see. something that combined the kinetic energy and oversized emotion of musicals with the insanity and thrills of car chases. i'd get distracted in class and draw makeshift storyboards with color pencils in the margins of my notebook, and underneath i'd list what bit of a song that action would be soundtracked by. i even drew a logo for it. it was a huge catalyst for wanting to make movies, because no one was making *the movie* i wanted to see, so i thought when i grew up, i'd make it myself. but then Edgar Wright, that beautiful man pictured here, beat me to it and made Baby Driver. holy shit. it's literally the film i've been waiting my life to see. the entire film is wall to wall music, and literally almost every movement of the film is choreographed to the music. from car skids all the way to coffee runs. i was upset that it ended, and even more upset i couldn't go and buy another ticket to watch it again. i don't want to overhype it - it's not the best film i've ever seen, or even in this year so far. but if gun to my head i could only pick one movie to watch for the rest of my life, it'd really easily be Baby Driver. genuinely, i don't think i've ever had this personal of a reaction to a film before. it's the film i've been waiting my life to see, the film of my dreams. go see it in your favorite theater on the biggest screen with the loudest sound. i promise, it's utterly unique, like nothing you'll have ever seen before - this one's special.
