I recently went through a significant loss, I wont go too much into it but my uncle passed away and it was completely unexpected due to the fact that my mum and dad hid that he was dying from me until i got back from uni - my uncle died three days after i found out. So (in my mind) i went from having a perfectly healthy uncle who was in remission to having a dead one. I think the thing that kills me is that my mum, my uncles, and my nana never got to say goodbye to him in person - they missed him by a few hours, I can see this grief reflected in their faces whenever we have to talk about it. He was a good person, one of the only good people left in the world, and that can be seen in the way people talk about him. I wasn't close with him, but i do believe that i really loved him.

After my uncle passed, i then went through a massive falling out with a close friend, and lost all my previous friends due to that, all because i told this friend that i was really struggling to cope with the grief i'm experience. I would spend a lot of time just crying my eyes out in my room, mulling over all the unfair things that happened due to my uncles passing, but at the end of the day life isn't fair. Thats a fact that I'v recently come to terms with.

One quote that a friend told me that has really helped with my grief journey is this: "Whatever we were to each other, that we are still."
