Seeing floor 4 fans getting mad Pen exposed a cheating husband having a mistress that he then promptly dropped like trash the moment she was inconvient because "Pen put a woman's livelohood at risk because a mistress cannot ever be seen in public with the man and it can never be known she's with said man" when just yesterday they were saying that being a mistress is actually a lovely thing and Ben wasn't demeaning to Sophie when he offered it to her I have to laugh.
Kinda funny to act like Pen is evil because she exposed the MAN IN THE RELATIONSHIP for having a mistress, didn't mention the mistress OR THE LORD by name and blame her for the nobleman being a dickhead who doesn't respect the woman he's with when Sophie Baek herself, the character they're "defending", hates mistresses, thinks it's demaning, was hurt tremendously by the fact her mom was a mistress, was in fact actively abused for being the daughter of a mistress and never publically acknowledged and vehemently refused being a mistress herself...
People go "Oh but why are people acting like Benedict should immediately marry a maid? He can't it's socially unacceptable it'd be ruinous for his family why are you guys pretending like it's no big deal it's Regency England."
And like, sure. It's Regency England, people are perfectly aware it is scandalous, but it's the Regency Englad of A ROMANCE NOVEL. The audience is not stupid they're just aware of genre convetions. They know they will end up together because it's a romance, sure in real life Regency Englad it'd be ruinous for them but we're watching a TV show with 1 confirmed season and 2 all but corfimed after it, we all know the Bridgertons will be fine.
They say the Bridgerton family will be ruined litterally every season in one way or another. Like last season they were saying it was gonna be because of Colin marrying Whistledown and clearly everything was fine in fact it went perfectly and people are lining up to see her. We all know the Bridgerton will be fine by now this show is basically consequenceless for every lead.
You can't expect the audience in the 4th season to genuinely believe the family will be ruined for real this time unlike the 17 other times when the Bridgetons did something utterly scandalous and then be beloved by next season, one of them is diamond of the season and there's a line of people who will marry them.
I've seen a lot of people on twitter going "Oh but stop review bombing a season with a leading WOC" and like, have you considered the very diverse bridgerton fanbase doesn't like how a WHITE MAN asks a WOC who is also a ILLEGITEMATE DAUGHTER to BE HIS MISTRESS.
Feels like a lot of bridgerton fans almost weaponize the leads of color to deflect cricism MOSTLY ABOUT THE WHITE CHARACTERS. It's been a pattern in all the seasons that have had a lead of color. S1 people were getting mad that people didn't like to see a white woman rape a black man, S2 people were mad you didn't want to see a white man mistreat two brown sisters because he couldn't grow a pear, now S4 people are doing it too.

Bridgertons π€ Treating the POC they're in love with like shit.
I saw one interview by Yerin and obviosly no hate to the actress but she said something that kinda annoyed me as a very picky Cinderella fan.
I do wanna aknoledge that it is quite different, like, [...] and then it veers off quite differently. Because, you know, even though Sophie is of lower status, she doesn't change her morals just for a man. And whatever solution he thinks is appropriate.
How is that a difference from the "original"? How does Cinderella from the Disney movie give up on her values? Does she stop being kind? Does she accept a man that's not nice to her?
If Cinderella from the movie was offered to be a mistress, like the main lead, she'd obviously refuse like Sohie does in the movie. She's not desperate for the prince, doesn't even ask him for anything until he looks for her. Now, Sophie probably doesn't immedialely accept a wedding proposal from Benedict like Cinderella does, and that's an actual difference sure.
But even then, Cinderella doesn't accept because "she goes along with what the prince thinks is appropriate", she accepts because she's in love as well, and wants to be with him but previously believed she couldn't until the prince proved otherwise.
The only thing I'll say about S4 of Bridgerton's reception as a massive Cinderella fan is that if the prince/rich dude isn't fucking charming and nice and caring and doesn't give a shit if she's rich poor and just found his true love, Cinderella is a horror story and the negative reviews clearly reflect that.
People accusing Polins of review bombing when there's less than a thousand reviews and a 70% score is kinda funny.
I will always project my bi girl canon event of falling for a girl who was definetely straight but sometimes said the most wlw shit entirely by accident on Pen's friendship with Eloise.

Following that one promo image photo of Pen's baby and seeing some Kanthony fans seethe over one single picture of a baby who was part of a pretty important and beloved side plot that went like super viral, I find it crazy those same still insist their season was the best and a perfectly crafted story because it clearly gave so many of them no closure and left them completely unsatisfied.
Honestly, I ended S3, which had my favorite couple, happy and generally satisfied. While I expect Penelope will still be an important ish character, I don't really need to have much more content of her and especially Polin. I got a set up, an arc, character growth and most of all I got to see them be together for a while. I've "moved on" to the new couple, so to say.
With Kanthony the shippers didn't get any closure, didn't even have a wedding, and that left them still wishing for more and asking for catch up two seasons later. Of course Kate ought to show up a fair amount considering she's lady Bridgerton now, but Bridgerton is very much an ensemble cast where so many characters have to be developed.
Weird as hell how people are like, idk, saying Penelope is so wrong for not choosing Lord Debling. Like I get the jokes about being alone for years at a time with more money that you can dream of.
But really, there's very little to be desired about that. Especially for Penelope, who's lived an unloved life up until this point. Can you imagine the loneliness? 60 years of your life spent mostly alone by yourself, not loved by your husband and not allowed to seek love elsewhere. Just you, many servants and possibly, possibly, some kids in the future.
If you even manage to have kids with how little he's home.
It's very clear Penelope wants love, craves someone who actually understands and desires her. Lord Debling cannot give it to her, for whatever reason. I've seen theories that he's secretly gay and that is believable to me but he could also just...not be into her. That's also a thing.
Sure, Pen's mom is right. Security is sexy, and I do think Pen wouldn't have despised her life with him. But Colin can offer both security and the love she craves.

Portia Featherington: Penelope, you need to settle down and marry a rich man...
Penelope Featherington
He fully takes a glance down at her breasts here as well. Same Colin, same.
The actor talking to the mirror before his scene: Ok, remeber. Colin needs to stare at Pen's tits every 5 minutes. It is necessary to how I portray him.
