Back when he mostly baa’d and people loved him

The first time Punz sees Dream- and really sees him, not hearing a rumor second hand about how someone’s boyfriend’s sister knows someone who saw him in a darkened hallway- is sitting at the bus stop trying to head back to his dorm. The most feared person on campus, shrouded in rumors, is lying on the parking lot pavement, halfway under a parked sedan, with a handful of limp, soggy bacon from the cafeteria. It’s like a car crash. He can’t look away. Punz is an art major, and needs to present a completed, themed portfolio by the end of the spring semester in order to graduate. The problem is, he has no idea what to present. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Dream, the college's local outcast, catches interest in his plight, and decides to help.

November greeted Punz like a punch to the face: with a throbbing, hangover migraine that made him want to puke, and socks squishy with stale river water and mud. Dream takes Punz somewhere new to meet some new people. Punz's world perspective breaks a little bit.
