Kiss of Judas
making some comments about this piece because i was encouraged to do so (which i'm very thankful for :3)
from a technical point of view i really like the light that bounces off the light objects like hands and cpunz's clothes and hair, and also the rendering of cpunz's eye with a highlight (there's surprisingly a lot of things to consider when rendering the eyes)
also really like how there's stuff that can be perceived differently. for example, how exdee covers cdream and cpunz with his wing, maybe meaning that there is some favoritism towards them, but you can also see it as his protection for cdream ending at his arrest, because his other wing, the one that's closer to c!sam, is folded. and how his touch is not comforting but more mocking??
my favourite detail though is the name of the piece. there are different ways to interpret it: like the obvious similarities between this part of the story and the event that the name references, or the fact that it didn't need to happen to point to cdream, because he would end up as a scapegoat in any case. the interpretation i choose though is that the kiss isn't depicted in the painting because the finale was staged (would also be interesting to look at this piece not knowing that it was staged and look for details that hint to it, like cpunz not looking at the payment, but at cdream with doubt and worry in his eyes, or that cdream doesn't fight back, and there's bitter acceptance in his eyes)
