Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts

You give a resigned groan, hoping the process was a bit closer to being finished. "God, how much more do I have to do this?" you practically whine in defeat, despite having made it to this point like a complete goddess.

My thumb slowly runs over our daughter's thick mop of hair as she patiently waits for her mama to give another push. "I'd say one more big one should do it," I murmur out with hushed excitement, glancing up curiously as I see you tense. "Hey, are you-"

There's no time to even finish that sentence as your body bears all the way down, so much so that our baby's head nearly rests on the mattress you've found ourselves on for this moment. "Woah, there you go! Amazing, sweetheart!" I cheer in pure delight, "You're doing it! Her shoulders are out, you're doing sooo good! Keep at it!"

"Oh! Mmmph! I-it's burning!" you moan as you put all your strength into this push, her little body slowly slipping out with the effort of your power. "Baby, where are your hands? Please, catch her!"

"They're on her, don't worry, love. Breathe and push, I'm right here," It's difficult to keep my hands from shaking in excitement, until finally you give a great, heaving push. And there it was, our baby girl finally gently falls into my hands. Already so loud and full of life.
