Found in my drafts: Some wisdom from 19 year old me
Things I’m trying to learn:
1. It’s unfair and unreasonable to expect people to show you the same level of love in the same way you show it. All you can do is love hard in the way that you do and either accept what someone gives you in return or move on.
2. People will disappoint you for 1000 reasons. It’s selfish and a waste of energy to assume it has anything to do with you.
3. Find solace in yourself. Comfort in friends. And escape in something constructive. Escapism isn’t always negative. Just don’t mistake it for isolation.
4. Don’t put up with people who don’t value you.
5. Learn to identify the million ways people demonstrate your value to you.
6. Be kind to your family. Even kinder when they upset you.
7. Trust yourself. Rely on only yourself. Give yourself a break.
8. Love your body. Don’t be afraid to use it or worry too much what other people think of it. In the end, the only monologue you have to listen to is your internal one. Learn to call yourself a dime piece.
9. Shake It Out by Florence and the Machine will help you through any heartache.
10. Don’t grin and bear it all the time.
11. Remind yourself of other people’s struggles and you might find forgiving them for their transgressions easier.
12. Wine crying is a necessary evil.
