What I find strange about this scene is that even if it wouldn’t have stood out on television in 2001 the characters in this particular scene are doctors and therefore mandated reporters trained to spot signs of child abuse. They should know it’s wrong for an 11 year old to “lose his virginity” an adult even if the perpetrator is a woman.

I feel like it could have been a good opportunity for the show to raise awareness about the sexual abuse of young boys by women. They could have even tied it into an ER case later in the episode or in a different episode.

Forget What You Know is an excellent album. It’s lyrically compelling and musically exciting in a way that outshines the rest of Midtown’s catalog at least to my tastes. But it’s not the kind of album you can make a second one of.

It’s fixated on disillusionment and emptiness and misery. It’s a record that sincerely asks the question what’s there to do if this is all meaningless?

After you’ve discovered it’s all meaningless you don’t make another record contemplating the void. You change your outlook on meaning or you kill yourself.

I listened to Forget What You Know for the first time today. People (including people who like Cobra Starship) always talk like Gabe went crazy in 2005 and Cobra was this massive departure in sound and content but in context there’s an obvious sonic and thematic through line from that album to When the City Sleeps We Rule the Streets and then from that to the rest of the Cobra Starship discography.
