Okay, listen.
I'm a leftist. I hate health insurance. Capitalism is destroying... everything.
But I cannot celebrate murder. And that's what this is... it's a murder. This is not revolution.
It is not revolution because the same material conditions and culture of disparity exist between us. It's not a revolution because the same systems of exploitation and labor exist today, even after the assassination. It is not a revolution BECAUSE THEY CAN CREATE, INSTATE, AND DUPE THE NEXT SAP WHO NEEDS TO SiT IN THE POSITION OF CEO JUST AS EASY as they found this one.
What this should show you is that capitalism doesn't need this one guy. CEOs are idiots, not maleficent agents. They're a dime a dozen! If you cannot see that we are talking about a human being who has been deceived for his whole life had now been killed (and that this story is being told/sold as propaganda for our entertainment) then we will be as far as ever from true revolution.
You can't do revolution by eliminating 'bad actors'.
Threatening violence because someone doesn’t agree with you. Making it a joke because violence is funny, and you don’t see them as human. Say that to someone’s face. Go out and, in any argument, threaten to pistol whip them.
Makes my stomach churn, honestly.
And maybe violence is the only solution. Maybe all we can do is murder those in power. But at the end of the day, killing is a true final resort to mourned, not celebrated.
And, of course, this really does change nothing. What, is the complex supposed to crumble and give way to a kinder world because one man dropped dead? Do we suddenly have free healthcare for all, just because one man fell?
