I’m not a New Yorker, but I don’t have to be in order to understand the devastation that happened that day. I was in jr high the day it happened. But I was too young & indifferent then to really understand the magnitude of that day. But now as I reflect on that day to the times we are facing now, I’ve come to realize how much I’ve taken almost everything for granted. Which is why I’ve come to respect those who are more than willing to give their lives to save others even more. For they have become a Godsend for those in need. A thought.... Prejudice. Racism. Injustice. When you have three of these words together what do you get? An unholy trinity. We all have the right to protest on whatever circumstances come in our way. But when you begin to become violent & hostile while protesting, how does it make you any different? This is why evil cannot be undone by doing evil. It’s like trying to put out a massive fire with gasoline. There are two things I see that’s becoming a pattern if history has taught us anything. The first. When you ignore & shun out the people that should never be denied their right to speak, expect the worst to come. In the words of the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, “A riot is the language of the unheard.” The second. People of law enforcement of any kind that chooses to abuse the power they are given must be held accountable as well. For they all came from the same place as us before they are sworn to uphold the law. Unfortunately the real good people of law enforcement are caught in the crossfire of all of it as well. Which is why those in law enforcement with extremely questionable intentions must be policed by the men & women who actually uphold the law by actually protecting the people from such acts. “When you have police officers who abuse citizens, you erode public confidence in law enforcement. That makes the job of good police officers unsafe” - Mary Frances Berry. But regardless, racism & prejudice should have no place in any establishment of any kind or in the personal lives of people. PERIOD. Justice may be blind but it should always remain honest. Otherwise injustice will continue to affect & destroy every individual regardless unless we choose to confront it. Instead of cowering in fear & staying quiet about anything that should never be overlooked or under, we must be willing to confront this unholy trinity that has lingered & affected mankind for too long. But just like before, we cannot undo evil by doing evil, we have to be better than that. There are times where we are at our all time highest or at our all time lowest. These days has brought out both almost all at once. In doing so we have brought ourselves to a near ultimatum to our own mindsets, choose to come together as one or become the very thing we always say to ourselves never to become. The Coronavirus has become the type of virus that brings out the true persona that most people would hide simply because. & some would go into hiding & stock up more of in excess of what they actually need. But the true virus is fear. The very fear that the devil will take advantage of & use it against people like you & I all for the sake of destroying your lives & your relationship with our Lord in heaven. We all have our flaws & problems to begin with. But sometimes when you try to eradicate your problems with lies too good to last, it will come tumbling down like a house made of sand for it’s foundation. That is why our words are powerful because it is true. They can either bring life or death depending on how your life is. & sometimes, even when things were better we still have the means to give life or bring death depending on our words. Know that you will not receive closure in every situation but you can create one for yourself. Most of what other people do is about them, not you. Also some things just cannot be explained no matter much we try to rationalize it. Some people won’t apologize because they can’t. But most of all, you cannot change people, no matter how much you think they need to change. People change themselves. So please, do yourselves a massive favor. Stay in contact with those closest to you. To all that you love. Do not make the mistakes I have made as introverted loner with the foolish mindset of believing he doesn’t need friends simply because of a troubled past. Never sacrifice your humanity or your faith based on flaws or from lies of people & the devil himself. Instead learn to acknowledge & accept your flaws for we are all human. Best of all, we are all God’s children & that should never change.
