I support the "fiction isn't real so nothing matters" mindset but tbf at a certain point it can tip over into "the curtains are just blue" territory
like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point
not all depiction is glorification but sometimes it is and you need to be able to tell the difference. not because your immortal soul will be tainted by reading The Bad One, but because you need to have reading comprehension skills

it feels like the effort to categorize slang as AAVE and not 'gen z' or 'gen alpha' slang has really petered out. it feels like we stopped talking about digital blackface in an era where the administration is posting ai-generated videos of black women who speak and act like exaggerated stereotypes and it frustrates me because we all have a responsibility to understand our generation's role in normalizing this type of racist shit for kids today. this needs to be addressed!
Black people will never stop talking about this, but when we are on sites such as Tumblr, where so many of the white people feel that not only are they not racist, but that calling their racist behavior racist is emotional warfare on them, they will make sure to keep Black voices as silenced as possible.
Also, a lot of the Black people who got deleted or run off of the site weren't even accused of any type of Russian anything. A lot of them were just run the fuck off by the white Tumblr base on harassment shit.
I do find it really funny that despite Roathe trying to prod Drifter into doubting the Lotus because of how weird she's acting about the Indifference, that it's a trap, that she's being used, that Drifter needs to be prepared to defend themselves...
...the very next glimpse of upcoming content we get is the Lotus and Drifter trusting each other enough to let the Drifter jump straight into her memories, get in between her and the Indifference, go "Not today, Wally" and then haul her out of the pool like "I've got her."

has anyone noticed the new meta for people being accused of bigotry (esp white people being accused of racism) is to claim they're receiving harassment (often with no proof just on a "trust me" level) so the whole conversation turns into how harassment is always wrong and bringing up the bigotry that sparked it will get you accused of lolcowing
