Final Fantasy X - Calm Before The Storm (Guitar cover by Malcress)

We haven’t covered any instrumental soundtracks for quite some time now, so Pete came up with the Final Fantasy game series, since he’s liked it’s theme songs since ages ago, and introduced the rearranged version of “Calm Before The Storm” for two guitars, instead of only one, as he used to play it before. We also wanted to substantially emphasize the reverb effect in both guitars, so it literally depicts the tension in the air before a storm approaches and to truly capture the essence of this song.

Sum 41 - So Long Goodbye (Cover by Malcress)

After a week-long break, we’ve decided to cover something from SUM 41, since it’s another one of those bands we’ve been growing up with. It was the song “So Long Goodbye” that caught our eye; with it’s sentiment for loss and hope simultaneously, along with the delicate violin parts played by Pete on the electric guitar, and the tender vocal transitions in the chorus.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside (Cover by Malcress)

To make a change, we turn over to play some Red Hot Chili Peppers! Otherside is a song we are going to perform with our friends in a couple weeks, so why not make a cover of it here? It's a neat song that has it's tenderness, along with some highlighted heavier parts. This being a nice combination, it also has a catchy solo and bridge, and the chorus just won't get out of our minds!
