      “admittedly, i didn’t think you’d come when i sent out that invitation,” winona confessed, having wandered to where lillian was sitting in the corner - seemingly minding her own business until her ex had appeared out of thin air. a trick winona perfected over the years. “but i am genuinely glad to see you. it’s been some time, hasn’t it?” the brunette decided to sit a seat away from lillian. far enough not to test the other’s comfort level, but close enough not to scream awkward and stranger. “how do you like what i’ve done?” she asked, if only to ease into conversation, gesturing to 1 oak’s decorations and details. “i’d give myself a clap on the back, but i’m afraid i can’t reach anymore.” a joke to further lighten the mood. 

      “there’s hundreds of women here and you’re really trying to sleep with the owner?” not that sterling blamed bowie. older, attractive, had their shit seemingly together? yeah, her type too. except 1 oak’s owner was all ‘bad girl’ vibes and well... the woman sterling had her crush on stood on the opposite end of the spectrum. a woman she didn’t think would lead her on or fuck her over, not like bowie’s crush might. or maybe bowie didn’t mind that either. “you sure you want to get involved with that?”

      “ok but can you just hold the door closed, because i think some asshole managed to break the lock and i don’t want another woman walking in on me,” sterling insisted to devon, after the two had wandered off to the restroom to freshen up. before devon had the chance to fully shut the stall door, the brunette peeked her head out again, “wait wait wait, unless it’s a really hot older woman with long, chestnut hair. in which case i’ll probably manage. don’t ask who though.”

evie made it no secret that she hated working. if it were up to her, she would be permanently planted on some beach somewhere, with her feet in the air and a cocktail in her hand. but still, for now, she had to work a job. and as far as jobs went, waitressing at 1 oak’s wasn’t too bad. and as far was bosses went? well, evie couldn’t imagine anyone better than winona. she was tough, sure, but evie needed that sometimes. besides, she liked the woman. more than that, respected her — and evie’s respect was hard earned. this was the longest she had ever held down a job, so clearly something was working. she spotted the woman throwing a fit from down the bar, making her way over to watch the scene unfold up close. she arrived just as the argument came to a head, biting back a laugh as the woman stormed off. she certainly wasn’t the first of winona’s jilted lovers evie had watched flee the club. she set her drink tray down at the bar, a wide grin curling the corners of her lips. “a nun, huh? sounds like a great way to meet women.” she teased, watching winona toss back the shot. for all the drinks evie had drunk (and she had drunk a lot of drinks) she still didn’t like the taste of alcohol. and she certainly didn’t look as cool drinking it as winona did. “still breaking hearts, boss?”

katherine really had to stop wearing a watch. whether she was checking it out of a nervous tick or to confirm how late someone was, her eyes were wearing that damn thing out. the club was already way out of her comfort zone, her being in a booth on her own just made it that much worse. “was it the traffic or did you just leave thirty minutes after you told me you left?” she replied, giving the other and incredulous look. her eyes widened at the others next words and she instinctively looked around to make sure no one was in earshot of them. “okay, first of all, there’s no need to be so loud. and second, i did this for us. girls night or whatever it is you call it. besides, i knew you’d have something to say about any of the other ten outfits i tried on before coming here.” she brushed her hair behind her shoulders and adjusted her dress when the waitress suddenly appeared with their waters. she ordered herself a scotch on the rocks with a please and thank you. “as proud of you and this club as i am, don’t you think it’s time we drink in the comfort of our own homes like the old women we are?”

      the feeling of hesitant, slender arms wrapping around her provided a nice safety net in case the girl decided to move around. winona relaxed into the embrace with an amused smile, wrapping one perfectly toned thigh over the next. with their current company chatting amongst one another, it was easy for bowie to slip a naughty - albeit cheesy - suggestion into her ear, the warm breath causing winona’s eyes to darken on their own accord. oh, but she liked to tease this one. had been for some time, watching as it drove the poor creature mad with hunger. 

      “it’s cute how badly you want to taste me,” the nightclub owner voiced quietly in return, unashamed of her direct observation. eyes remaining ahead, winona shifted a little on the girl’s lap, ass pressing further into bowie’s pelvis, craving a whine more than anything from her. “unfortunately, you’ll have to behave yourself, dear. i’m working tonight.” and every other night she wanted this game to drag along.
