Sarah didn’t know how to calm down.
Awkward in front of the camera? Easy. She did that naturally. Scream into the microphone while playing Fortnite with her teammates? Always.
Staying calm during a team game night?
“KK, I swear to God, if you give me another +4—” Sarah was interrupted by a loud smack on the table from KK, who gleefully threw down another +4.
“Colour change to…red. And UNO!” KK giggled.
“Kamorea, I swear, I will dunk on your ass.” Sarah drew 4, grabbing the cards with so much force they creased.
Just then, you walked in. You’d gone out for dinner with your friends, and had promised Sarah you’d come over afterwards.
She whipped around when you walked in, still fuming from getting 3 consecutive +4’s from KK.
The moment she looked at you?
A pile of lovesick goop on the ground.
She ditched her cards on the ground, not even caring that they were face up, and ran to hug you. In a matter of seconds, you were engulfed in just Sarah—all coconut shampoo and too-tight hugs.
“Hi baby.” You laughed softly, reciprocating the hug.
“Missed you.” Her voice was somehow muffled into your shoulder, even though she was half a head taller than you.
“I was gona for 2 hours.” You pointed out, amused.
“Yeah, and you left me with these losers!” Sarah whined. Kelis and KK gasped dramatically from her spot on the ground, while Serah groaned a, “here we go again.” Caroline and Kayleigh looked entirely unbothered.
“Sarah Strong, you take that back!” KK screamed, charging at Sarah from behind. The younger girl just gave her a very disinterested “really?” look when she missed completely.
“Well, if you’ll excuse me, I have more important matters to attend to.” She rolled her eyes at KK, dragging you off to her room.
In the…quieter room, Sarah exhaled, flopping on her bed and dragging you with her. You were left with your head half on her chest, one leg draped across her legs.
“Hi, pretty girl.” You kissed her jaw softly, and she hummed, arms wrapping around your waist.
“Y’know, I could hear you yellin’ at KK from outside. Sounded very different from the Sarah I know.” You giggled.
“Yes, well, the Sarah you know has no need to yell at you.” She pointed out, kissing your cheek.
“Hmm, true. You wanna finish the game of Uno, or you gonna go out on a loss?” You teased lightly, free hand caressing her face gently.
“I didn’t lose. I have you. That’s a win in my eyes.” When you looked up, she looked entirely too smug and proud of herself for that one. So, you did what any good girlfriend would do, and smacked her on the arm.
“Ow! What the hell, bro?” You laughed.
“I know damn well you did not just call me ‘bro’.” She stuck her tongue out.
“That’s what you get for hitting me.”
“Fine then.” You started to move to get up. Her arms instantly tightened.
“No, wait, I take it back, don’t leave.” You giggled, but relaxed in her hold anyways. You kissed her right on her cheek and whispered, “Knew it.”
