The hills are alive, Joaquin Baldwin
Virginia Woolf ― The Waves
Dearest, you fill all my thoughts. It’s true: you live in my eyes even when absent; you are the holy ghost haunting me, cleaved to me, ever-present, and in you, my heart bursts into sparks of effervescent love, bubbling up, bubbling over, aflame and ruby-red.

whenever people say ‘virtue,’ i don’t know what they mean
“Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.”
— Anne Frank (b. 12 June 1929)
my aunt came into my bedroom as I laid idly on my sheets, eyes to the white ceiling, and she said “it’s like you’re dreaming,” and I wanted to tell her I am, I am, I am, and it’s so wonderful, and warmth is radiating from my shoulders to the outskirts of my forearm and escaping, jumping, leaping, and they’re reaching the tips of my fingers in lightning, and I am, I am, I am, and the sun shines like it’s buzzing, and the world is suction cupped into the bends of my elbows and knees and the nape of my neck and I am, I am, I am. Instead, I said “Yes.”
*makes 2 tin can phones out of our red string of fate*
I found myself at the losing end. / At the losing end, I found myself.
Suddenly my heart is humbled, and it feels like a bowl made out of breeze. What does it hold, and can it? And is holding even the point? What if the point was the freedom, the purity of movement, the porousness, the emptied, the invisible? I could not put fruit in this bowl, or keys, or mail, but in like fashion, you cannot put this bowl in anything at all. You cannot keep it. It was like this — emptied and at the brutal, gentle end of my pride — that I found Life itself. It’s here in my bowl of breeze that the fallen flowers lift and spin like butterflies in circular wind.
If life is a game of losing, I hope I have the grace and foresight to be the winning loser.
