*Warren turned his head and shot a quick look at his two business partners. It was a clear and definite “not now” though he was smiling while he did it. They were right after all; she was his plaything. Out of choice and not force, however, but his pet nonetheless. He rested his eyes on the man she’d come with. Warren had never seen him before which meant he wasn’t important. He knew everyone of importance. He searched the man’s eyes and saw that they were a perfect carbon copy of his Ruby’s. Ah. How he enjoyed the easy way dominant genes sometimes cleared things up. This was the infamous Mr. Everett whom Ruby loathed so much and plotted to murder. Her father. This would be interesting.*
“Mr. Everett,” *said Warren in a silky tone. It sounded friendly and pleasing to the ear to those who did not know him, but Warren knew Ruby and his business partners picked up on the underlying danger.* “I am charmed to meet you. Your daughter has told me ever so much about you.” *He smiled and reached out his giant hands in a firm grip around Emmett Everett’s: one clasping it and one resting on top, the politician’s handshake.* “Haven’t you, Ruby?” *he added teasingly while studying Emmett’s face.* “Everything about your dear père…”
*Slowly, he let go of Emmett’s hands and turned to Ruby. He drank her in properly, leaned in and kissed her cheek. His voice was husky and he kept his gaze on her.* “Yes, your daughter and I know each other quite well. I am simply Mrs. Melnyk’s biggest fan.” *He smirked and looked at Emmett again.* “I quite forgive you for being hasty and running into us. I offer my apologies for my rudeness. I too struggle to take my eyes off your daughter when she pleasures me with her company.”
Ruby felt ill at ease as she looked between Warren and Emmett. The only thing that could calm her a small amount was the fact that they were in a public place, a very public place infact. She knew her father wouldn’t make a scene big enough to put him out of a job, and if Ruby knew Warren as well as she thought she did, he would simply be playing mind games with Emmett. The consequences of it could be dealt with at home. Ruby took another deep breath as she stepped infront of her father and closer to Warren.
The tension in Emmett’s face relaxed as his expression dropped. Ruby had failed not only to mention that they knew each other but that they were well aquainted; a connection he could have looked into exploiting much sooner, had the bussinessman in question been anyone other than Mr.Travers. He nodded curtly as Warrens hands enveloped his and cleared his throat, “It’s a shame I can’t say the same for you”
"Yes” Ruby began tentatively, trying to choose her words carefully for once. “Well, there’s simply so much to say about Warren, I wouldn’t have known where to begin” What she said held a lot of truth, however that wasn’t the complete reason behind her reluctance to tell her father about herself and Warren. Ruby had a gnawing feeling that Emmett could see straight through her pleasant conversation.
Emmett couldn’t stop his fists from clenching beside him as he listened to Warren speak, he hated not being able to control a situation, especially one involving his youngest child. “I was under the impression that Ruby was still in mourning, too upset to be pleasuring anybody for any amount of time. Clearly I’ve had the wool pulled over my eyes” He turned briefly to his daughter before focusing his attention back towards Warren.
Ruby had to stop herself from laughing as she watched her fathers emotions cycling, her amusement saved her from any embarassment from Warren’s comment.
