We'll Float on

“Well, I didn’t mean to make this much... I just got a little carried away...” she said laughing, returning his cute affections. “you cheesy goof, sit down and eat before it gets cold, I promise it only looks burnt “ She was never good at making actual food look pretty unless it was sometime sweet.

She glanced down at the tug to her cloak, grinning when she saw the cutie  “oh hello kiddo” she said leaning down to his level. “your farm? sure! I’ll be happy to take you back, where did start getting lost?”

Summer looked down at the little bundle of blonde utterly melting. “My little dragon snap!!” she cheered immediately picking the girl up into her arms and nuzzling her, pressing kisses to her face. “you found me! you’re so good at finding things.” She smiled seeing her big puffy mane of hair “want me to brush and braid it for you?”

She fell onto her back with a small oop, not expecting to be thrown. She sat up and watched him run. She wanted to go after, but she knew how impulsive her oldest daughter became when angry, she didn’t want to risk him getting hurt or him hurting others if she followed quickly behind him.  With a sigh she helplessly sat there deciding if she should find him or not. She chose to wait standing up and dusting herself off she tried to gague how long his cool down would take. With a huff she walked in the same general direction figuring he’d be calm by the time she actually stumbled upon him again if she did..  She almost wanted to give up on him, but she wasn’t going to, she already decided she’d try to be a good mother for him. She took the time during her walk to think about how she was going to speak to him and apologize. She didn’t know exactly what set him off but she did know to ask when she sees him next.

she held him with one arm, the other swinging her axe slamming it blade digging into the roof, to keep it anchored. She usually had both hands to use the weapon but she made due. She left the axe a moment to drop her ammo in its required chamber and reading her aim using the blades to help her aim. She gently braced him against her kicking the trigger to launch. A quiet whistle as she hit the target, the ammunition bursting in a red cloud leaving no grimm in its place. It recoiled a bit but not enough to through the woman off balance, she saw a few more, repeated the process until there wasn’t anymore to shoot at,the remaining grimm retreating before she could even finish all of them. chasing them wasnt a concern of hers at this point she wanted the boy in her arms safe. “it looks like they’re gone”

She rubbed his back as she held him letting the little boy cry on her. “what a lovely name, Lie... I will gladly bring you into a safe home after my mission.”she heard a few beowolves near by, pausing the moment.She kept him close to her holding him firmly as to not drop the boy, speeding away from the grimm. “I need you to hold on tightly.” she whispered weaving through the buildings, jumping on platforms and steps to reach a roof a well enough distance to use her weapon, not wanting to use the close combat of the axe itself while a child was with her. 

Summer frowned hearing the name Kuroyuri, she heard of the tragedy there and how it wasn’t a village any longer. she quickly picked up the young boy in her arms and hugged him “you poor thing- I’m so so sorry.” she said cradling him close “you’re so strong to come this far alone” she praised feeling tears sting at her eyes, as a mother of two it hurt her knowing this poor boy was alone. “what’s your name little flower?”

Summer frowned “How long have you been walking, little flower? this is a former village, I’m here fighting grimm to make sure they dont wander into populated ones, you must be freezing” she said removing her cloak, putting it on the young boy. “It must be so scary being by yourself this way, want me to help you find your family?” she wasnt aware he didn’t have one “they must be so worried, I don’t know what I’d do if my girls went missing”

Summer came across the small boy seeing him. He was so small, so timid, she was so worried about where his family could be. She crouched to his level. “Hello there little flower, are you lost? this area isn’t safe for someone your age to be alone” she noticed he was a bit frail and thin, poor thing- she reached into her pouch pulling out some of the snacks she brought with her on her mission, offering him a cookie.

Summer looked down at the boy and his empty eyes. She couldn’t help but feel her heart twist and ache painfully. No child should have a life like this, no child should have to have abandoned faith in humanity like this. Carefully she put her arms around him, wrapping him up in the warmth of her cloak. “come now, little Tulip, lets get you somewhere safe.. you don’t deserve such pain” She pulled away taking off said hood and putting hit on him, she figured he wouldn’t walk on his own, scooping him up in her arms and carried him. 

Summer giggled a bit when lifted up, wrapping her legs around the taller woman like a koala. “ Well no ones after us cause i killed them all, i told you, silly” she said simply holding onto her. “no worries about any targets- I don’t know why you’re suspicious, I never lie to you and if i did, you can kill me okay?”

“oh Raven! I’m happy you’re here” she said disregarding the odd look on her face. She dropped her bloodied axe on the ground and hugged her. “I just protected everyone from vultures” she said vaguely to the woman putting her arms around her. She smiled up at Raven in the embrace “if anyone tries to take my darlings away... I’ll kill them all of course”
