So like what the fuck.

Basically I’m doing an analysis on what I think happened and what some of this shit means

Remember these are my personal opinions and I would LOVE to know what you guys think!

What I really liked:

- I really liked that this episode was centered around Morph. I was worried they were going to center it around Wolverine so I’m really glad they didn’t.

- I also liked that Morph had a ton of lines, this kinda goes with being the main character or center of the episode so some good Morph scene time!!

- I also loved that Morph had more serious moments. I feel like they usually use them for like a comedy relief, so seeing them have a in depth plot was so cool!!

- I also loved the part where Morph talks about how Logan saved them before, so they are going to save him now. I feel like that really helps connect the original show to the show now, especially for Morph. I feel like sometimes it’s easy to think that these characters, especially Morph, can become disconnected and feel like the are from a different timeline compared to the original, but they are in fact the same timeline.

-Never in my life did I EVER think I would hear Morph utter the words “Hey Alphas” and I feel like we need to talk more about that.

Things I don’t understand:

-What does the last scene mean?? I have two theories as to what it means so lmk what y’all think. Personally, I think the first one is more likely.

1. That was Morph expressing that they are mad at Logan for not telling them the real reason they went the to Weapon X base and are upset he lied and put everyone at risk.

2. Logan knows how Morph feels (asking him to spit it out) And then Logan saying “Some of us can only be one thing” was him telling Morph he is like straight or smth

Things I’m upset about:

-Why the FUCK is Logan still caught up on Jean? AND TELL ME WHY when Morph poured their heart out to him and told him “your the only one who cared about me” THAT WASN’T ENOUGH FOR HIM TO SNAP OUT OF IT but the SECOND Morph becomes Jean all the sudden he is like “oh shit I stabbed Jean”

SO WE WILL STAB OUT BEST FRIEND BUT NOT JEAN RIGHT

I’m honestly so sick of the Logan and Jean shit it’s so old, boring and overused. Like you’d think he would have grown a pair by now and moved on but no. And I’m not just saying this because I want him to be with Morph (though I do want that). I think it hinders him as a character because every time he has a weakness, it’s just Jean or Jean getting hurt, so stupid and boring

The fact Morph knows this too also makes me violently sick.

Things that broke my heart

-The final two lines: “ Doesn’t that make you sad? It makes me sad Logan.”

I don’t know this felt really raw and emotional to me ESPECIALLY coming from a character that jokes around all the time. You can hear the break in their voice which makes me so sad, because they care so deeply for Logan and at this point, I can tell Logan doesn’t feel the same(I hope Marvel proves me wrong and this changes).

Overall:

I really liked this episode! I thought it was really good in all aspects. Ik it seems like I’m hating but I actually really enjoyed this episode and think is beneficial for the story line. I hope we get more Morph content because I’m biased and love Morph.

You're telling me that Wolverine values Jean... more than Morph? The guy who took Morph's death the hardest? The guy who kept pining (platonically) for Morph for a lot of the series? The guy who, after learning Morph, was alive, dropped everything to go track them across the world? The guy who was basically attached to Morph by the hip when they came back on the team, and who still acts like that in Xmen 97? Stabbing Jean... a woman who he likes and who he KNOWS who doesn't like him back and I'd MARRIED and who he TOLD it wouldn't work out with... was more horrifying than stabbing his best friend????

one of the things that TAS hammered home about WAS how important morph was to logan. they literally mention it in this episode! morph was the only one logan truly liked at the beginning of TAS, and was in canon said to be the only one who could make him laugh. logan ditched the xmen time and time again to try to find morph once he realized they were alive! hell, logan almost left the xmen because of scotts treatment of morph!

the fact that xmen 97 for some reason has tried to paint the obvious care - and yes, love - between the 2 of them as one-sided from morph is ridiculous. even if its not a romantic love, logan still loves morph!!!

morph should not have to change into jean fucking grey for logan to snap out of it. that is logans best friend and that SHOULD mean something

edit bc i forgot ab it: AND LOGAN DOESNT APOLOGIZE FOR STABBING MORPH??????? despite that being his friend????? his best friend???????

I blame the writers rather than Logan as a character. But case in point, since this is supposed to be a continuation of the original animated series, here's a few screenshots from the episode Courage, in which Morph returns to the team (temporarily):

Look at that. Openly hugs them. Widely smiling from ear to ear. I've never seen Logan that happy to see ANYONE.

Morph should have been able to get through to Logan without needing to turn into Jean. It would have added so much depth to their relationship, especially when Morph brought up how Logan never left them behind. Would have been a bit of a full circle moment and great for BOTH of their character developments.
