Fingers on the Edge
With the last of your strength, You traced my cheek, A final touch, a farewell in the cruelest form. You could have just said, "Love is gone." It wouldβve been easier to admit defeat. But we both knowβ Love was never the enemy. It never was. We walked away, Two paths splitting, leading us further apart, Away from what we once shared. If love were enough to bind us, Weβd have found a way. But the universe had other plans. You thought love was the answer, The anchor keeping us grounded, So you gave everything, Until all that was left was to surrender each other.
We held on, Fighting until we were nothing but sticks and bones, Bleeding out, Until there was nothing left to bleed. We thought holding on was the bravest, As if love meant enduring until the very end. But noβ Life taught us that true strength lies in letting go. The deepest act of love wasnβt holding on until we broke, But releasing each other, Because love wasnβt meant to destroy us.
I had to let go, To love you from afar. I didnβt want to keep choosing you, Only to one day regret it. I wanted to preserve this love, The most beautiful thing I ever had, Even if it meant losing you.
