If you have Body Integrity Identity Disorder like me I’d love to hear from you. It’s a pretty lonely existence, even when you’re open about it to your friends & family. I’m sick of the support I get, “Don’t ever lose your leg, we love you whole.” I get that they’re concerned, but they’ve got it all backwards. I’m not whole & the longer I carry this dead weight the sicker I get.

I wish they knew that the only way to feel whole would be to LOSE my leg, but they think it’s so ghastly & unhealthy to amputate. They think I’m sick for wanting it because they can’t understand how good it would be for me. They just can’t even fathom what this is like for me & their good intentions really only serve themselves.

I just wish SOMEONE would understand so that I don’t feel like a crazy person trying to explain to them that the healthiest option is to amputate. Maybe not now, or anytime soon, but someday before I die would be nice.
