Summary:
Dear Diary,
That's the last time I ever hold a séance behind a gas station in the Appalachian Mountains before midnight.
In retrospect, Hope Mikaelson should have had the foresight to know she might be abducted by something alien that night, but the ship came from nowhere. Now, taken as a prisoner and infected with an otherworldly parasite, Hope is left with two choices: Lie in wait and evolve into a raging tentacle monster or travel in search of a cure (and a way home) with a group of companions who are chaos incarnate.

RIP my dino guy 😔
Thanks for the hyperfixations
I'm not saying I don't...like the tentacles.
I do, I do. I do like the tentacles.
However... Uhm. I created a specific look in the beginning that I never got to have, and just... let it have an on/off switch, you know?

Is the family cookout an appropriate time to work on my fanfiction?
Yes
No
Yes, but in cursive.
For the person that voted no, I just want to let you know I did, in fact, work on my fanfiction 🤣
Just a reminder that "show don't tell" does not mean you're never allowed to tell. Narration can be a key part of storytelling, and it's okay to utilize it.

I wanted to write a fanfiction with a Regency voice. I was born in 1996, not 1792. Where would I even begin trying to write in a 200 year old voice?
I watched media (tv shows/movies (not all are accurate, we know this), documentaries).
I picked up literature written by authors who wrote in the early 1800s. I learned more about the fashion, vocabulary, and trends of the time period.
Does that mean I have written a Regency Era masterpiece?
No... It is far from perfect, but IT IS MINE.
It's not generated through a prompt.
All the mistakes and messy descriptions are mine, and with each story I write, every piece of literature I pick up, I learn.
I have fun.
Here is a sample I've written:
Light fabric of linen and lace ruffled as the door to the modiste opened, stirring the stagnant air and bringing with it the near-intolerable heat of the day. The cramped streets of London had left the cool serenity of spring and, in lieu of it, a stifling summer. Violet Bridgerton, in particular, waved her fan at her face with such ferocity. Eve feared she may take off and fly into the sky like a common swift.
If someone read this, would they think it was written by a Brontë? Nope, and that's okay, I wasn't born in 1802, I don't speak like I was, but if I ever want to let my art resemble that period of time at all, I need to LEARN how to do it from the people who lived it, not type it into chatgpt.
Do the work.
Learn from those who came before us, not from something that lacks what real writing is and needs... humanity and soul.
If anyone wants to add me on this new book app ❤️
