we don’t KNOW that batman punched out joker’s teeth but here they are connected through the movies via visual cues that hints at death and mayhem and JOKER’S VICTORY. it’s not part of the main action and tells of years and years AND YEARS of things that have already happened. and in a way THEY HAVE bc we have so many movies about that conflict. to see it would be to repeat it and so how do you engage an audience that already knows the story? you literally move on and let the audience connect the dots themselves.

even the minor details are consistent. let’s say you see wonder woman first. the movie opens with diana’s narration and her receiving the package from bruce. his side of the dynamic is introduced via his bruce wayne symbol, not the batman one. when the story ends, we learn that this is not just a package of an important, meaningful gift to diana. you haven’t seen bvs yet and here is something you already surmise from just this action, and what you’ve seen of bruce is just this symbol and his small note:

if you see bvs next, the next time you see that symbol, it is destroyed. in essence, bruce is destroyed. if you watch it in the regular order, bvs then ww, then the opening scene of ww becomes even further proof of their friendship and bruce’s rehabilitation.
