you wrote about a lot of things. about your parents, your brothers and sister, your childhood, your experiences with other people. you wrote about your wand, your robes, and the days in school you had forgotten to do your homework. you talked about hope and redemption. about the people you helped and the ones you wanted to protect. and what it would be like to see a bird fly by. you wrote about the flowers she planted around your rib cage that sprouted just below your collarbones. about how all day you would pluck their petals but had not yet ascertained if she loved you or not. later you wrote about ever present pain in your cheeks and what it’s like to think you’re a monster. what it was like to be judged by everyone before you’d even spoken two words to them. so much of it was like seeing myself on paper. like reading all the things i never know how to say.

    I’M GONNA TAKE SOMETHING FROM YOU, MAKE THE DEVIL FEEL SURPRISED.
