ok honestly. sokka’s trauma from losing his mother to thinking his father is going to take him with him to war to being left behind and waiting for his father and constantly wondering why he’s not good enough to go to war while having to protect his family and having this deep set fear that he’s going to see the black snow again and this time it’s just him, there’s no one else to protect everyone it’s just sokka and he won’t be able to live with himself if something were to happen to katara or gran gran or anything he wouldn’t be able to live with himself. and then he gets hope from the avatar and he has a role in society now and then he meets yue and then imagine your first crush and imagine the excitement of going around with her when suddenly. he sees it again. he sees the snow and then he can hear katara crying all over again and before he knows it yue’s gone and imagine how fucking terrified he is and i know that fandom reduces him to the funny meat non bender guy but he is a brown teenage boy with so much trauma and this fear that never really goes away but he has to be happy. he has to show happiness or else he’ll fucking shatter.
