Chapter 1: Town of melancholy
TW: swearing, depictions/mentions of violence, death, blood, and gore.
It was the average night in melancholy town, and the antiheroes drove around, looking out for wilders, and whoever else may be a problem.
Fang and Jupiter were on the van roof, observing the streets as poison croak drove with Stripez in the passenger seat.
“Fang, do you see anything?” Croak asked, eyes carefully on the road.
“Not really, just trash cans with.. dead rats.” Fang looked again to double check. “Oh never mind, that one’s alive-“
“Can I see?” Jupiter asked, shoving Fang out of the way.
“What? You said ‘dead rats’ and I wanted to see.”
“Well, you don’t shove people out of the fucking way!”
The two started doing petty hand slaps, eventually, however, Fang tackled her and this started a wrestling match.
“Will you two cut it out!?” Coyo popped his head out of the van as the two stopped, to look at him. “You’re supposed to be looking out, not mucking about! Get back on your feet and pay attention!”
“Yes, Dad.” The two burgrudgingly said, letting go and getting up.
“You know, I still don’t get how you guys call him dad.” Stripez said, looking at poison croak as Coyo got back down.
“What’s weird about it? He is technically our father figure.” Croak responded, shrugging.
“Oh don’t bother, Croaky, he hasn’t excepted that family isn’t always blood yet.” Coyo said, poking his head out the window. “After all, it’s his way of saying he hates me.” He said that last part teasingly, even chuckling a bit.
Stripez rolled his eyes and looked out the window. He loved them like a family, but he wasn’t sure of the idea of calling someone dad just because they took care of you and/or made you. I mean, he wouldn’t call Redback his dad.
“I’m just messing with ya, kid.” He said, pulling his head back in.
Stripez still looked out the window, looking for whatever might be a threat.
“You see anything, Jupi?”
“Nope, just a bunch of boring old-“ she then gasped as she saw some oddly familiar wilders surrounding someone or.. something in the alley. “WILDERS ON THE RIGHT!”
Croak slammed on the breaks, making the tires screech as Jupiter leaped off the van roof and ran towards the wilders, Fang following her.
“Well gang..” Coyo grabbed a gun and cocked it. “time to fuck up some bitches.”
Meanwhile, in the alley, the group of wilders cornered a pink bat, heavily injured and out of breath. It was outnumbered by ten and weakened with no chance to properly defend itself.
“Any last words, little one?” Scorpius said, readying to finish it off.
The bat coughed some blood before speaking, leaning against the brick wall behind it.
“Piss off..” it said, out of breath and slowly sitting on the ground.
Out of nowhere, a cat paw stretched out and knocked him out of the way.
“Is it really hard for you guys to stay out of town?” Fang pulled his arm back, ready to punch some more.
“Oh please, like some teenagers can beat us!” A wilder goon chuckled, rolling his eyes.
“Well yeah, actually.” Jupiter said, somewhat snarky.
Before the goon could say anything, his head was grabbed by stripez and slammed into the brick wall repeatedly while croak jumped off the building roof and slit two of them in the throat.
“Little unfair to have ten against one, don’t you think?” Stripez asked, dropping the bloody unconscious body of the wilder.
“Let’s even the odds..” croak said, killing off another goon by stabbing him.
“I’ll take on mister needle ass!” Jupiter yelled running to fight the scorpion, who got up just in time to dodge some of her attacks, backing up in the alley way.
“And she leaves us to deal with the regular goons.” Fang said, annoyed while dodging a wilder punch then continued to strangle that same wilder. “Well, let’s hope she doesn’t nearly die this time.”
“Hey, I know I should’ve said something sooner, but we should probably check on that bat and, I don’t know, get her out of here!” Croak yelled, blocking a goons attacks.
Stripez threw a wilder off of him and ran to the pink bat, who laid on its side in pain.
“Hey, you okay?” He asked, helping it up.
“Yes, in fact I barely feel the pain.” it answered sarcastically, wincing with how sore it was.
“Right, dumb question. Sorry.”
He picked it up and threw it over his shoulder, running to the van.
Coyo came in with his gun and start shooting the ever living shit out of the goon croak was about to kill.
“What the shit, dad? I had it!” Croak shouted, stabbing another one that tried to sneak up on her.
“What? I’m just helping!” He shouted, shooting the one Fang just strangled to death.
“Hey! He’s already dead, dude!” Fang yelled, picked up the body to show him.
“Doesn’t hurt to double check! Besides, I still got some extra ammo.” He said, lifting his gun and pointing at it. “Wait. Where’s Jupi?”
“Fighting Scorpius.” Croak said, placing the bodies in a pile.
Coyo groaned in disappointment. This wasn’t the first time she took on someone by herself, but in the end, she always got hurt.
“I swear to god she never fucking-“ Coyo inhaled and exhaled, calming himself down. “Where are they?”
With Jupiter, she was about out of breath, dodging scorpius’ sting attempts. Despite being able to dodge the tail, however, could not block the punches in time.
She tried attacking him, but the moment she swung her arm at him, he grabbed it, pulled her towards him, and punched her stomach, his claw nearly stabbing her.
She screamed with the sharp pain in her stomach, falling to her side and covering it with her arms. It didn’t feel like a stab wound, but it definitely hurt like hell.
“You really thought you could take me on your own?” He said, wrapping his tail around her neck while she yelped as she grabbed his tail, trying to force it off of her.
“How pathetic! You’re not as strong as you think you are, bunny rabbit..”
“You.. stupid.. insect..” she barely got out as the tail started to grip tighter, making her struggle more.
“Save your breath, Cotten tail. You’re not gonna make this one out alive..”
As the grip got stronger, she struggle to say anything, feeling her conscious slipping away.
“Goodnight, little rabbit-“ he, once again, got interrupted. This time by a gunshot.
Scorpius let go of her and ran away as he gasped for air, coughing. Coyo ran to her aid and placed his hand on her shoulder.
“Jupi! You good?” He asked, concerned.
“Well, I’m alive.” She responded, catching her breath.
“Good. Now, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WHERE YOU THINKING!?” He yelled, almost startled her. “You could’ve gotten yourself killed! How many times are you gonna do this!?”
“Dad, chill out.” Fang walked up to the two. “Stripez has the bat in the van.. we should go.”
“Jupiter, scorpius isn’t important right now, we can deal with him later. Right now, someone’s life is on the line.”
“You also got a bit of a problem there..” Coyo pointed at a gash on her stomach.
“Ah shit, I didn’t notice that before.”
Coyo let her grab onto his shoulder and lifted her up from the ground, she limped as she leaned onto his shoulder, trying to maintain balance.
“Did Stripez get why the wilders attacked them?” He asked while making sure she could get around a bit.
“Nope, they went unconscious before he could ask anything.” Fang answered, placing his fists on his hips.
“Damn. They’re alive, right?”
“Yep, just needs some rest and a bunch of bandages.”
“Alright, then that’s all that matters.. C’mon, let’s go.”
