The Speaker

“Awaken.” A deep guttural voice void of all life and emotion uttered forth from the figure.

“I am awake! Stop saying that!” She was about to continue her protest when whispers caught her attention and her gaze wandered off into the nothingness of the white space.

“The Servant’s call rings forth, duty and honorbound, it is time to rise.” The voice continued from the abyss.

“What servant’s call?! You keep saying to rise, to wake up, nothing you say makes sense!” She growled as the whispers grew harsher and more persistent, confused and panicked she swung on the form only for her fist to pass through the figure as if it weren’t there. “What are you?!” She screamed at it just as a pair of doors suddenly appeared and swung open on the far side of what was now revealed to be a padded cell with diluted light allowed to filter in. Her eyes darted at the white lab coats and masks of the pair that stormed in wore, sending her further into a panic.

“What? No! I didn’t do anything! It was all him! He made me do it!” She screamed over and over as they grabbed her by her upper arms and slammed her to the ground.

“Patient 2965, calm down!” One of their muffled voices called out. She fought to get herself free, but it was in vain as a needle pierced her skin and a moment later she struggled to keep her eyes open. 

“Stop…” She murmured, “Just… shut up…”
