normally, kenny would stay throughout the whole fight, no matter how bad it got, because of her little brother. But on this night, her brother was at a sleepover and her older sister didn’t come home. on this night, kenny was the only target.

this night was severe. she had to leave.

kenny left with nothing in hand, only the pajamas she wore. she stepped into the frigid snow all alone and walked. she walked without a destination. eventually, she reached a house she knew well: stacey marsh’s house.

realizing she would be burdening stacey, she began to retreat. for the first time that night, she felt like crying.

“ken!” a familiar voice called out.

she turned to see stacey jogging toward her in the snow.

she couldn’t say anything. she couldn’t even look at her. kenny felt ashamed. stacey was always there for her in times like this, and it happened so often. stacey must feel tired by now, she also had a bad home life.

kenny’s thoughts were interrupted by a hat being placed on her head.

“here, it’s freezing!” stacey began taking off her jacket.

still unable to make eye contact, kenny began to shake. stacey draped her jacket over kenny.

“come inside, dude,” she said, pulling kennedy in for a hug.

she didn’t say a word on this night, she just hugged stacey back and later fell asleep in the warmth of her arms.
