We Were Two Kids Just Trying To Get Out (2026)
oil on canvas, 120x160cm
A portrait of me and my best friend, whom I’ve known since kindergarten, sitting together on a bench by the lake in our hometown, years later. There’s no bond stronger than the one you build with someone you survive high school with. The composition captures a quiet, introspective moment shaped by shared history rather than direct interaction. Our proximity suggests intimacy, while our gazes drift elsewhere, reflecting on the divergence that often accompanies adulthood. We’re 22 now, in different places, facing different challenges, still trying to figure life out.
