    SHOVEL NIGHT. A CLASSIC. Peering over his shoulder from behind ( partially because he wanted to see how this guy would fair with a console he APPARENTLY didn’t know existed until now, && partially because he couldn’t afford another one if something were to happen to it -- NOT that he thought the dude would break the thing on purpose, or, or anything ! Just... you know, being cautious ), Peter stepped back as soon as he caught ear of the question, brows KNITTING in sheer DISBELIEF, but only briefly -- until they relaxed again, the question dismissed with a mere light exhale of a chuckle. ❛ yeah, very funny, dude. ❜ one beat. two beats. three... oh. he wasn’t joking. ❛ ... wait, you’re-- you’re serious ? ❜ man, this guy was SURE committing to the whole ‘I’m that arrow dude’s son from the distant future’ bit. Space symbiotes, living gods, && alien armadas in Manhattan aside, there was only SO MUCH Peter could believe -- and this was coming from a guy who SWUNG around New York in a skintight red && blue suit, calling himself SPIDER-MAN ! The realm of possibility was as broad as it was going to get. Still, brows raise in innocent SHOCK nonetheless, not in a challenging or MOCKING way, but more of a ‘how do I explain this in the least confusing way possible’ ... kind of way.

               mary jane was not a fan of horror movies. the topic of ghosts and demons did forever amaze and intrigue her. of course, when aliens attack new york and the idea that nordic myth isn’t actually myth, but almost factual. ghost and demons seemed to be the sanity of these films. although, she was a movie lover. she hated jumpscares. and sinister indeed, has a slew of jumpscares. after the male beside her left for the restroom, her eyebrows knitted at the paused movie, at least it wasn’t at wrong timing. shifting the pale blue sweatshirt on her shoulders. her comfort rapidly decreased after it had grown too silent. a shriek escaped the ginger’s burgendy lips as she jumped, almost like a feline, in similar fear. turning around, an dirty look crossing her prominent features, she slowly wacked peter in the chest.                ❛ PETER !❜ crossing her arms, however, she could NOT ever be consistently mad at peter parker. even with the distress he caused her, at least the moment of distress. her lips broke into a snicker, ❛ you’re an ass you know that right ? you’re so lucky you’re cute ! ❜ proceeding to playfully hit him. ( of course he could handle her. a dainty little thing, she is. ) ❛ i’ll get you back someday. ❜

     ROSY CHEEKS LIFT WITH THE PARTING of thin lips, featherlight LAUGHTER slipping between as arms raise in surrender, flinching, despite each collision with his chest feeling about as weightless as the CHEEKY (nearly apologetic ) smile taking years off of already youthful features. OKAY, so maybe it was a little mean – but,HEY ! It was an opportunity he’d be CRAZY to refuse. The horror genre wasn’t one he was exactly too big on either ( he would forever be a SCI-FI GEEK at heart, && his arsenal of useless TOTALLY USEFUL Star Treck trivia was evidence of this ), but after going up against more bad guys than he cared to count, PLUS an insane vulture-looking dude with some pretty SCARY alien tech ( still the coolest thing ever, by the way ), something about living out most of these scary movies amidst his nightly runs made it a whole lot less overwhelming – and a whole lot easier noticing each not-so-subtle FLINCH of MJ’s shoulders, her fingers curling && TUGGING his arm closer whenever a sound would echo a little too suddenly, && Peter finding himself spending more time quietly smiling at MJ than actually paying attention to the movie… now that he thought about it, Peter found himself doing that a lot. HUH… what was he doing again ? right. apologizing.

                             "Hey, kid, you got a second? I might actually need your help with something. New eyes, or something like that. Whatever people say— Anyway, I need a second opinion on this. What do you think of this? I’m trying to figure out how to integrate it with several systems that’ll help our local boys and girls in blue get to scenes quicker. Not sure how people will feel about it being an AI, but that’s why I need a second opinion.“

     NEARLY KNOCKING DOWN THE CHAIR BENEATH HIM, Peter bounced to his feet a little too QUICKLY for his belongings to keep up, successfully EMPTYING the contents that spilled from the mouth of his school bag, SCRAMBLING to recollect himself before allowing a nonchalant ( as nonchalant as one can be, when FUMBLING over himself ) clearing of his throat. ❛ Yeah ! Yeah, totally… I’ve—– I’ve… got a minute. ❜ One AWKWARD tumble later and Peter was at Mr. Stark’s side, arms crossed && eyes wide with innocent CURIOSITY, his gaze scanning the holographic blueprint displayed before them. Yeah —– still took some getting used too. The holograms, the workshop, the tech… Mr. Stark asking HIM for his input ? We’re talking about a GENIUS here, Peter’s childhood HERO, asking him for his opinion. Definitely still took some getting used too. The cogs in his mind turning, with a growing smile, Peter reached up to adjust a few things here && there, before recoiling back, turning to Mr. Stark with raised brows && a sheepish raise of his voice.  ❛ Um, is it… is it alright if I —– ? ❜ And as soon as the permission was granted, Peter began at it once again. If he knew New York’s law enforcement like he did ( and he DEFINITELY did —– or, should he say, SPIDEY did ), they preferred keeping things in their own control. Things like artificial intelligence systems, advanced… well, anything TECHY had a tendency to off-put them completely… Unless, said integrated systems were to SEEM as simple && familiar to them as any other device. Such as, disguising it as your average, modern day Global Positioning System… only, with a few enhancements lying beneath the surface.

   FOR ONCE, the beast was subdued – brought to his symbiote-laden knees as an inferno consumed the building about him. glass shards of shattered windows littered the floor near his feet; evidence of just how close eddie brock had come to escaping the blaze moments after saving the life of an INNOCENT. he’d spared the child by bringing her to the window & using symbiote webbing to dampen her fall with the intention to follow suit afterwards, but an explosion within the building had sent him stumbling further back into the flames. though freedom lay just several feet from where he knelt, he was PARALYZED. the symbiote was weakening with each passing moment.

    the flames had him cornered. as they moved in ( CLOSER and CLOSER! ), the symbiote slunk away, exposing eddie’s bare flesh to the unforgiving heat. his own howls of agony mingled with those of his other’s until smoke choked his lungs. if he wanted to escape with his life … he’d have to get out NOW. the building was coming down &it was going to take everything inside down with it.

    DESPERATE EYES WERE CONCEALED BENEATH THE SHEATHE OF HIS MASK, webbing FURIOUSLY pulling at strained muscles as he FRANTICALLY tailed the blaring roars of sirens from above. Oh god, oh god, oh god —– c’mon, FASTER, Peter, faster ! Just a LITTLE farther … and —– no… no, no, no. The deafening POUNDING in his chest nearly ceased upon watching as a tiny silhouette  ( Jesus… was that a KID ? ) was TOSSED from one of the tower’s windows, and —– oh, THANK GOD ! She landed on webbing… wait, WEBBING ? Hang on, Peter Spider-Man knew that symbiote webbing anywhere.

    ❛ kid from queens, huh ? we’re rivals for the title of best borough. ’ a smile imparts, hands resting heavy on his hips. there’s much to say about a rising hero from the city. theyunderstand the struggle, the hurdles to overcome, the concrete to break through. he recalls their first meeting, a child on the opposing side but a child with a heart of gold. not an ounce of ill-intentioned volition, an innocence still in tact and steve curses the world and its maliciousness. the path of a hero is tainted by evil, and endless strife — war does not end.      ❛ what’s your name ? didn’t get it the last time.’

     FINGERS TIGHTLY PRESSED AGAINST HIS CHEST, unsure, fidgeting idly as the HERO ( CAPTAIN AMERICA, himself ! ) approached ----- THIS time, not on a battlefield. With a STARRY-EYED flash of wide eyes, outlined with a glimmer of wonder && a TOUCH of fear, Peter was beginning to realize that no amount of experience would get him used to meeting one of his childhood HERO’S face-to-face... Yeah, TOTALLY not... freaking out, or----- or anything. He also began to realize that he was, most likely, GAWKING a bit too long for comfort. Opposing sides of a war he didn’t entirely understand ( no one would tell him ANYTHING ! Mr. Stark said he was too young to for any of it to make sense, but Peter’s seen the news ----- putting the pieces together wasn’t entirely difficult... since when was fifteen too young, anyway ? ) or not, this was still someone he’s looked up to since... ever since he could remember ! So, to say he was a bit INTIMIDATED, would be an understatement. That is, until the topic of NEW YORK was brought to the surface. The city that never FAILED to be a source of comfort. His home. THEIR home. Lips parting into a youthful curl of a smile, RADIANT && still lingering with sheer awe, Peter ----- his mini, internal PANICKING aside, finally found his words.
