So I don't like to engage in fandom discourse but I am so confused on how people keep denying the scene with Ribbit was not about Jax being transfem because I went to it with my parents and there were a lot of children in the cinema and it was completely clear for the aforementioned that it was a scene about her coming out to Ribbit. I didn't even engage myself in the theory much until the finale and—It's just impossible to deny. Is media literacy really /that/ dead? Does everything have to be spoonfed in a silver spoon to people now for them to believe it? You really need Jax to turn to the screen and yell "I'm a trans woman by the way"? Please connect the dots. Its easy.

a rant in defense of jax
(spoilers, duh)
people saying jax doesnt deserve any kind of love or forgiveness highkey disgust me and it really tells me what you think of mentally ill people. yes she's an abuser but she's still a human being who can grow—that doesnt excuse the damage she's done but no one is incapable of change. it especially disgusts me to see people minimizing her trauma and saying she killed her mother. jax is many things but she is not an irredeemable monster
there are real people in the world that see themselves or their past selves in jax. when you point at her and say she is nothing but a cruel monster, the only thing that does is make those people feel alone.

i also think the way people are using their disdain for jax to demonize goosewor is really, really digusting. i dislike gooseworx just as much as everyone else, but once again. you are using mental illness as an insult.
there are pleniy of reasons to hate gooseworx already. you do not need to use her vulnerabilities to do so.
i have my issues with the show & finale just as much as anyone else but very few of them are with jax as a character but rather the handling of every other character around her. yes, everyone else's stories shouldnt have been merely surrounding jax's story and deserved to stand on their omn. but those complaints can be seperate from demonizing jax. yes, many of those faults hinge on the poor handling of screentime balance, but that is no fault of hers.
yes, i wish gangle hadnt forgiven her.
yes, i wish pomni was further explored outside of jax and gummigoo.
yes, i think ragatha had so much wasted potential as a character.
yes, i wish more of the show's questions got answered.
yes, these problems are a side effect of the excessive focus on jax.
but i dont think that makes her a bad character. just a poorly handled one.
please PLEASE do not interpret this as me excusing her actions. i still do agree with the interpretation that she is an abuser, and gangle does not owe her forgiveness. gangle being unable to cry for her death is a fantastic portrayal of this. i couldnt give you an explanation of why jax rationalizes her abuse of gangle with the fact that she enjoys it—i still have much to learn about psychology. but just bear in mind that abusers are still people and all situations are gray; gangle and jax are both complex characters in different ways.
