For large diesel, gas and dual-fuel generator sets, stable cooling performance is not optional. A genset may be installed in a container, engine room, power station, biogas plant, oilfield site or standby power system, but the cooling system must keep the engine operating safely under continuous load, high ambient temperature and demanding site conditions. A remote radiator is installed away from the engine to reject heat from the engine coolant, charge air cooling circuit, jacket water circuit or low-temperature circuit. It can be placed outdoors, on a roof, beside a container, or in a dedicated cooling area, helping reduce engine-room heat load and improve ventilation conditions.

During selection, key information includes engine model, rated power, heat rejection to coolant, heat rejection to charge air cooler, coolant type, glycol concentration, inlet and outlet temperature, ambient design temperature, altitude, allowable pressure drop, fan power supply, noise limit and installation space. For containerized power plants, biogas generator stations, offshore power modules, mining sites and emergency standby power systems, reliable cooling directly affects engine stability. If the radiator is undersized, the coolant temperature will rise, the engine may derate, and long-term reliability will be reduced.
