this one came out looking much more ceremonial, so I imagine him wearing this during jedi ceremonies/celebrations, maybe knightings or some such.
readmore for my yap about some of the details
obviously this is still inspired by a hanbok, and I added other korean elements to tie in maybe some traditions from Mikkia (korea). I especially like the idea of these norigae (the knotted charms) with longer looser ties that evoke Mikkian tendrils. I imagine these come from a tradition of weaving/tying long natural fibers like tall grasses or reeds :3
theres several more "classic "traditional" jedi elements as well:
the obi and tabards to help sell the classic Jedi silhouette
the hems have been embroidered with elements from the jedi code mantra (which i have repeated alllll over the place, includeing the charms hanging off the belt. hence me thinking this would be a ceremonial outfit. the code is literally woven into this garment.)
the symbols on the headdress I imagine could be stitched with some sort of jedi language, once again repeating the mantra or some other element of the code.
on his wrist he's got the jedi version of a rosary, or worry stones, which are clay beads inscribed with mantras from the code, that are used to help during meditation or stuff like that.
Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because theyâre used to writing essays rather than prose. I donât wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesnât offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (âdialogue tagâ just refers to phrases like âhe said,â âshe whispered,â âthey askedâ):
âFor most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and donât capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,â she said.
âBut what if youâre using a question mark rather than a period?â they asked.
âWhen using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless itâs a proper noun!â she snapped.
âWhen breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,â she said, âuse commas.â
âThis is a single sentence,â she said. âNow, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so thereâs no comma after âshe said.ââ
âThereâs no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.â She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.

wip Witches!Ancients that im currently working at. please excuse this current hyper fixation, once its runs its course the program will go back to its regular schedule.
I do head canon his eyes as being naturally golden bc I think he looks really nice like that! Also thereâs not enough main characters with unnatural eye colors in a universe of aliens, and we need to rectify that!
Jedi culture & community fics, my beloved! They're a bit of a rare breed for what you're specifically looking for, specifically focusing on positive Jedi worldbuilding, so if anyone has genfic recs outside of the ones I know, please feel free to add them! But these should help scratch that itch for you, each of them has at least some focus on Jedi philosophy or how Jedi interact with each other or the lessons they teach!
It's been awhile since I've read some of them, so there might be some that aren't quite as in-line with how I see the Jedi these days, but they're all ones I felt portrayed them pretty positively and they're all genfic (except one that I made an exception for) and all really lovely fics I remember enjoying for the Jedi worldbuilding aspects! And there are some that will make you absolutely melt with how much you love these characters and their beautiful culture, because by god if canon's not going to give us as much detail as we want, fandom will step up.
And fandom made sure to not just focus on the disaster lineage--we love Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, we always want more of them, please don't stop writing Jedi worldbuilding with them!--but also Mace and Yoda and Quinlan and Qui-Gon and even some Jedi OCs get some love in these fics, which makes me want to explode with joy to see! So, come cry about how much we love the Jedi with me, I WILL GIVE YOU A CRAPLOAD OF FIC TO READ.

⌠Five Meditations of Jedi Depa Billaba by skatzaa, depa & mace & yoda & kanan & kit, 5.3k
What is says on the tin. (Plus one more, for good measure.)
Sad thoughts about the possibility of Quinlan Vos surviving through ROTJ, making him the singular true Jedi Master left alive.
With Obi-Wan dead, Yoda dead, Cere dead, and so so many others, Quinlan Vos is all that's left of those who were raised by the Jedi Order all the way to Mastery. And all around him are these half-trained Padawans who had to find a way to complete their training in hiding and persecution, who then raised half-trained Padawans of their own. These are the Knights of the Rebellion Era. And they're good, they're kind, they're strong. But they're not the same. They didn't get to grow up in the Temple and have a place they can call home, they don't all even know what it would've meant to have that community around you because they've never had it, they probably have no idea what it MEANS to be a Master.
And then there's Quinlan. The only true Master left, who's spent the last 25 years desperately trying to save as many Force sensitive children as he can because that's what it meant to be a Jedi and it's all he can even do anymore. Quinlan Vos, who is left in the ashes of the Empire that wanted him dead, faced with a bunch of Knights who barely know what it means to be a Jedi, all looking to him now. The last of his kind, the only one to survive. The burden he bears is so heavy, but there's no one else. It's the last duty he has as a Jedi, to try to take these young, scared, scarred Knights and find a way to raise them with the community they either lost or never had. To pass on what it means to be a Jedi Master, to pass the torch of knowledge so that some piece of it survives beyond just him.
I have further thoughts about Quinlan as essentially the Yoda figure of the new Jedi Order (whether it's Luke's Jedi or Cal's Jedi, doesn't really matter).
Quinlan would likely never take a Padawan again. His Padawan was brutally murdered during Order 66 and the Kenobi show tells us that he spent at minimum 10 more years doing nothing but saving more Force sensitive children from the Empire and getting them to safety. He CAN'T lose any more, he's hyper focused on saving as many Force sensitive children as he can and losing them would be a failure. So I don't know if he would ever feel like he could take on the commitment and responsibility of training a Padawan again, it would be too much and he's never truly ready for it after Aayla dies.
But he doesn't mind being a teacher IN GENERAL. He doesn't mind teaching classes to large groups of Jedi younglings or Padawans. That part he's okay with and he actually loves doing it. He loves getting to connect to all of them, he loves helping them connect to the Force and learn new things and see them glow when they finally figure something out that they've been working on for weeks. And of course he loves helping them commit mischief, he has NO problems telling them exactly how to pull pranks on Cal and Luke and Leia and Reva and Ferus and Ahsoka and anyone else who's still around.
And, of course, he's a carrier of memories. As the oldest living Jedi left, he has more memories of other Jedi and of the Temple and of what being a Jedi meant and what it was like to live that life than anyone else has. Yoda wasn't the ONLY older Jedi in the Order, there were a number of other Jedi who lived for centuries and had helped him carry that burden, but he'd been one of the oldest by the end and often was the one most Jedi went to for the wisdom and guidance he had to offer as a result of how long he'd lived. Quinlan doesn't quite have that same support, but the surviving Jedi Padawans do their best to help, to add the memories they carry to his stories, to remind him of things he'd forgotten already, to add the names of Jedi they'd known that Quinlan had never met or only known in passing. But Quinlan remains the one most people go to if they want to ask questions about what the Jedi had been like, or what it means to be a Jedi, or if he remembers if the Jedi had certain practices or traditions they could take up again. He knows they go to some of the others like Cal and Luke for wisdom and guidance, too, but there are certain things he knows that only he can answer anymore.
I don't know if he figures it out on his own or if someone like Cal or Ferus or Reva or Ahsoka points out that he's essentially become "Yoda" for the new Jedi, but it hits him like a speeder either way. A part of him rejects it, doesn't WANT to have to take on that mantle when he never should've HAD to as a species that didn't have a particularly long lifespan, doesn't want to think about WHY he's become "Yoda" despite his shorter lifespan. But another part of him is honored by it. Yoda had been someone everyone had loved, someone that had touched everyone's life in one way or another. He'd been everyone's Master, everyone's guide, everyone's mentor. And Yoda had loved them all back in return, he'd delighted in spending time with the younglings and the Padawans and the younger Knights, he'd always made himself available when they were struggling and needed help (or he'd come to find them before they had been willing to ask for help and sometimes even before they knew they'd NEEDED help). There are certainly worse roles he could fill, worse people for him to have become in his old age. He's genuinely honored that the Jedi who remember Yoda see a similarity between them and he refuses to take that lightly.

Light of the Jedi | by Charles Soule
Even after Iâd turned the page from this moment, my mind kept drifting back to it, because the context of the story is that thereâs so much belief and faith placed in the Jedi in this book, how thereâs this sense of the galaxy around them being rather awe-struck by them.
As well as moments like this from the Jedi themselves:
And it reminded me so strongly of a conversation between Obi-Wan and Bail in Wild Space by Karen Miller:
"All I meant,â [Bail] said at last, his voice tight, "is that itâs a shame the other people hurt in the terrorist attacks canât experience the same benefits of Jedi healing that you did.â He looked up, then, and his eyes were haunted. âI saw some of them, you know. After. And even with intensive bacta treatment there are now children whoâll have to go through life hideously maimed and disfigured. It'sâŚsad. Itâs cruel. Thatâs all I meant.â
The manâs compassion was laudable, but his inferences were insulting. âI think what you meant, Senator, is that itâs somehow unfair that Iâm not sharing their fate,â Obi-Wan snapped. And then he caught hold of his temper. Crushed it before he said something truly unfortunate. âItâs not because we donât care,â he continued, far more moderately. âWe do, I assure you. However, healing is one of our rarest gifts. We help as many as we can, wherever we can, and keenly regret that we cannot help more. But are you saying that because we canât help everyone, we shouldnât help anyone?â
"No. Iâm sorry,â said Organa, shaking his head. "This isnât coming out right. I really am on your side, you know. I admire the Jedi enormously. I am in awe of what you do. But in case you hadnât noticed it, this war has thrust you onto center stage. Youâre in the news every day. Everything you do is being examined. Magnified. And when the noveltyâs worn off, itâs going to be second-guessed, and maybe even held up for censure. Especially if the war drags on, or doesnât go our way. Because you have been placed on a pedestal as tall as any Coruscant skyscraper.â
"That was never our intention, Senator, I assure you.â
"I know,â said Organa. âBut youâre up there regardless. Youâre the Jedi, Master Kenobi. Larger than life and twice as hard to kill. Still, the more systems the Separatists entice or strong-arm to their side, the more suffering and fear the Republic experiences, the closer the Separatists creep to the Core, and the longer it takes the Jedi to end this conflictâthe harder your pedestal is going to rock. Especially if itâs perceived that youâre not suffering like everyone else.â
"Not suffering, Senator?â he said, incredulous. "After Geonosis? After the engagements weâve fought already? And losing the Falleen battle group? Must the Jedi Temple itself fall before it can be agreed that the Jedi are also paying a price for this war we did not start?â
"Of course not,â said Organa. "Iâm talking about perception, not reality. The bedrock of politics. I think youâll grant itâs one of my areas of expertise.â
The least honorable of them all. Obi-Wan nodded. âI concede your point.â
"And I wish you didnât have to,â Organa replied. "Master Kenobi, the Jedi have been the Republicâs peacekeepers for generations. Citizens are used to you solving their local problems. Their community disputes. But we both know that what weâre facing is far more complicated. And I promise you, I promiseâwhen things get really bad you will be blamed.â
Curd-and-vegetable stew forgotten, Obi-Wan stared in silence at the Senator from Alderaan.
"Iâm sorry,â said Organa, turning away. ââYou donât have to say it. Iâm just a politician. Itâs none of my business.â
Just a politician? No. Far from it. Now it was clear why PadmĂŠ liked and trusted this princeling from Alderaan. He wasâŚunexpected.
"The Jedi arenât blind, Senator,â he said at last. âWeâre perfectly aware that our elevation in the public eye is problematic. We opposed it vigorously. We continue to oppose it. We are, as you say, peacekeepers. Not celebrities. The Supreme Chancellor should reconsider his tactics. We feel very strongly there is a chance they could end up doing us more harm than good.â
That this is a big part of the problem and what went wrongâthe galaxy got so used to the Jedi bringing miracles to them, that no matter how hard the Jedi tried to oppose it, the public still demanded that they keep performing those miracles, keep solving all their problems, keep fighting their wars for them.
And you see it here, in the High Republic. The public thinks, âMiracles are for the Jedi.â The Jedi are expected to bring these incredible feats of nobility and space magic and heroicism, which is great and saves the day! But you do that for a hundred years and then suddenly, when you canât save everyone, when you have an almost literal unwinnable war thatâs being laid at your feet, and a bad faith government who holds power over you and your own power is basically trapped in this incredibly narrowly defined window and you canât possibly turn your back on the people who still need your help, all while you never wanted and even vigorously opposed being put on this pedestal in the first place?
It just really hit me like a brick how something so good can be turned on the people who just wanted to do their best to help others.
Since there's been all sorts of GAR flowcharts of command floating about, and for all my research, I couldn't find any for the Jedi, so I decided to make it happen. This is a hybrid of legends and lucasfilm canon, but leans more towards legends/EU, because it's good. Hope this comes in handy for all you all Jedi-writers!
Actually I fucking adore the Inquisitorsâ lightsabers. They are such an amazing way to clearly and succinctly characterize the Inquistorius as an organization.
The rotating blades? The vast majority of the Inquisitors were children, Padawans or young war Knights who would not have had the time to develop the saber-deflection skills of adult Jedi, so the spinning serves as a quick and effective shortcut.
The practically identical designs? Every aspect of the Inquisitorsâ lives is tightly controlled by the Empire, they live in a goddamn prison, and the standardization of a weapon that is literally connected to their souls is the most extreme manifestation of that.
Even the flight capabilities are kind of about their relationship to the empire: clinging to its technology rather than using the Force, because they were never taught anything else.
Itâs actually sooo good if you just overthink it a lot :)

do you ever think about how if you dive into the ocean and go deeper and deeper you will pass through layers of darker and darker blue until everything is black and cold and the pressure will be so intense that it will kill you without protection but if you keep going you will find little glowing specks of light, and if you go up into the sky and go higher and higher you will pass through layers of darker and darker blue until everything is black and cold and the pressure will be so intense that it will kill you without protection but if you keep going you will find little glowing specks of light
