His Family

Bluthe is of course his twin. They're identical and she's bigender and trans! Now, I always find it much funnier to leave it entirely vague what his agab is, and I will continue to do so and imply that it's different in every au. 😂 Orph is the younger twin, and they get along fine despite their antagonistic relationship.

Their mother dies of illness when these two are quite young. She basically never fully recovered from their birth, and they don't really remember her beyond photos or paintings their father kept around. Their father never remarries, so the stress on the family from her passing eventually drives Blu to running away in his teens.

Speaking of their father, he's a fisherman in a small port village who also owns a boat rental. He loves his kids as much as he loves his late wife and the sea, and he works very hard to provide for them. Unfortunately, as they are not particularly wealthy, and he is working long hours quite often, a wedge eventually is driven between him and Blu, leading to her running off to join a band of pirates. Despite their hardships, their father taught them everything he knew about sailing and survival at sea, and imparted his love of ships and the ocean upon them both.

He has a stern but fair disposition and was actually very doting and soft with them as kids. He also falls ill a little less than a year after Bluthe runs off, leaving a 19 year old Orphas to run the family business alone, as well as care for their ailing father. He passes after another year or so as well, and Orphas has to make the decision to continue the life of a poor fisherman in his hometown alone, or set out on his own path.

In few versions, he stays. Most of them, he joins a crew of sailors and over the years works his way up to captaining his own ship. In some, he moves inland and joins a college to pursue scholarly interests.

It's possible that they have an aunt or uncle, but for the most part after their parents are gone, Orph and Bluthe only have each other when it comes to family!

In the aus where Crow exists, he's a 10-ish year old kid that Orphas adopts in his early 20s. Crow is angry and antisocial, and their relationship takes a lot of time and effort to become familial. (He gets his name from the fact that he initially spent all his time in the crows nest and refused to talk to anyone hahaha) At this younger age, Orph doesn't have much fatherly instinct either, and he struggles to understand what Crow needs. Eventually though, the two become close and Orph loves him as if they were blood. :]

Crow always ends up leaving the crew in adulthood to pursue his own interests on land, but they stay in contact.

There aren't any aus where Orph has canonically had kids, but in the ones I've pondered, he is 100% a girldad and would have a daughter that becomes his whole world 💕

Other relationships

So I don't keep any canon friendships or partners spanning aus, simply bc Orph is very blank slate. I keep him open for slotting into different stories, and so my friends can build relationships w their own ocs! :]

One constant is that if he is a captain, he ADORES his crew and treats them very well. He cooks extravagant meals for them when they have the means, and he plays music and sings with them during downtime. His crew can find him a bit eccentric regarding his interests and desire to explore ancient ruins and such, but he's so fair to them that they enjoy working under him anyway. :]

Orphas is pan and polyamorous, so he gets a lot of ships lmaooo

In many aus he does have a husband named Engel who belongs to my friend, but like I said I keep him open for anything bc I love playing touys :]]]]

Hmmm for people he tolerates, there isn't anyone specific I can think of. He's exceptionally patient and optimistic, and does his best to get along with people! He likely only tolerates people in positions of power who treat him as lesser, because of his profession. He knows the importance of networking as a trader, and will take a lot of abuse directed at him with grace.

However

Anyone who is outwardly disdainful, or who treats his crew or loved ones poorly... anyone he catches being cruel to innocent people or animals, he is infuriated by. It is hard to bring him to truly hate someone, and his desire to defend against horrible acts never really applies to himself, but he can't tolerate people who enjoy causing pain to others. Orphas is normally a pacifist, and would much rather talk things out, but he will come swinging to defend children and anyone who cannot protect themselves.

And getting on his bad side is like pissing off a capybara like... how did you even manage that??? Most patient man alive just snapped someone's wrist bc they were harassing a waitress even after being warned multiple times to back off-
