Voca Live Party

Fun fact: initial version of her outfit design were more similar to her VOICEPEAK design, with the top and skirt being more clearly two pieces with her middrift showing. But Jjinomu said the complete dress looked better and… she was right.

This model was made by Jjinomu for our first Piko Live Party. His outfit is extremely true-to-form, but with a shorter tail so he wouldn’t step on it. I cannot speak on her thought process behind how she decided on how his face should look, but I can say she got the perfect balance for him. He can be cute, pretty, or cool- making him extremely versatile and easy to work with for me. I think it’s a perfect match up for his voice bank’s wide vocal range. I always include at least one or two Piko covers in the concert- partly because I worked damn hard on Piko Live Party, but also because I want more people to be able to experience Piko despite him being discontinued.

My main intention was for Flower to be Androgynous, but in a very “2010s she/they lesbian” sort of way. If you were in the convention scene at the time, I feel like you know exactly the type I’m talking about. Of course, that meant giving her tripp pants and a mullet. This model did not receive a 2026 update like everyone else- but that’s because she was made in 2025 and is already very similar to them in style.

When designing his face, I wanted him to have a Fox-like appearance. His eyes are Narrow and upturned at the inner corners, his mouth is wider, and his face overall longer. I wanted his appearance to give the idea of “he looks kind and he smiles easy! .. but he also could be tricking you right now.”

Gumi has always been a character I struggle with a bit more than the others- whether that be designing her or picking out songs for the setlist. I cant say for sure why that is, but I can admit I was originally working on this design back when V6 was first shown off so she gets the most influence from that. When redoing her face, I decided to go back and borrow from her V6 art style once again, giving her big eyes and a bright smile just like she has in her official art. I’ve actually always viewed Gumi as something of a tomboy, though I haven’t had much of a chance to show that off just yet. Hopefully I can do so soon!

He also comes with a version without his coat, which has been featured in a few shows. The sleeveless shirt made me want to make sure there was some meat on his arms he could show off.

More detailed design notes: When I was working on the concept for Meiko, I was immediately drawn to the idea of a Bifauxnen or the “female Prince Charming” type trope that occasionally pops up in media. Think Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon or Oscar from The Rose of Versailles. This directly counters the very “Sexy, Mature Woman” vibe I know she is frequently given, but I felt it gave her an interesting charm. For this reason, my Meiko designs typically depict her in pants or shorts instead of a skirt - even her bunny outfit had a shorts-cut at the bottom compared to the other girls. I’ll also admit that when designing her face this time around, I used Minerva from Fire emblem as a reference- She’s the first Bifauxnen character I experienced as a child and I have adored her ever since.

When designing Luka, I largely took my favorite parts of her available designs at the time (which were only V2 and V4x) and tried to mesh them together. Originally her top did not feature the semi-transparent mesh; it was added a bit later to give her a bit more modesty. When designing her physical appearance, I was aiming for an "Onee-sama" type, with gentle but flirty eyes. This particularly came into play when I started designing / modeling her hair, as I ended up taking inspiration from the way they modeled Camilla's hair in the original Fire Emblem Fates cutscenes. She's actually the tallest female character of the group, and my hope is that you can view her as a mature and confident older woman.

Len was quite literally made to be Rin’s body double. They have identical body shapes and face shapes- Len just isn’t wearing mascara and he doesn’t open his eyes as wide. But at the same time, Len has Green eyes while Rin has Blue. I wanted it to be possible for songs like “Servant of Evil” (in which their siblings) and “The Wolf in Love with Red Riding Hood” (in which they’re lovers and unrelated) to both be able to be true. If they’re siblings or just eerily similar, that’s up to you- we don’t bash ships here. He’s intended to be an 18 year old boy whos just a bit short for his age- his short sleeve shirt and low ponytail are an attempt to make up for that by trying to look cooler.

When making Rin, I wanted her to come off as a girly-girl. The cute, energetic best friend to the main character of a Shoujo manga. The bow on the back of her shorts was a big part of that, but it was also added to give the model more movement below the waist the way a skirt does for most models. When designing outfits, i’ll often add elements that can move freely because it gives them a more “alive” feeling. When designing her face and body, I wanted her to be cute, but I didn’t want her to come off as too young. She’s baby faced, but I tried to lean her proportions more into “older teen.” I picture her to be around 18 years old.

When creating this design originally, I aimed for a more clean and simple look for Miku. She lacks a lot of the more cyber-elements you'd normally see, like the lights on her skirt and sleeves. Instead these smaller details were swapped for more contrasting colors and design elements that are easier to see from far away. When designing how she physically appears, I aimed for a more stereotypical animal girl face like how she appears in most media. I wanted a miku who could fit any song or genre; who's versatile. While my Vocaloid designs do not have canon ages, I think of her as being in her early 20s, around 20-22.
